FANTASTIC!! It is predominately a boy-book, but it is a great read! You will laugh, cry, and want more!

Life in the American south prior to World War II. This is the first of a trilogy of excellent books about the coming of age of Porter Osborne, Jr. the memorable protagonist. His experiences will have you laughing out loud. Take your time and savor Ferrol Sams'(a retired physician) prose. You're going to love this book.

I love Ferrol Sams too! I found this on the southern authors shelf at BAMM (when they used to have one) and bought the whole series. This book is hillarious. The others in the trilogy are still funny, but more poignant.
