I love this book. The world Steinbeck takes us into in the Salinas, Monterey area and the characters he creates are just there to show that he really loved those people and that place. THAT'S what shines through in all of it.

I love this book. Read Cannery Row first, though. Steinbeck introduces you to the characters there.
