Everyone could fall in love with the main character of this book, Peekay, or the other characters who come into his life throughout the novel. Only gripe about the book was that there were some rather unlikely coincidences throughout, but they're really fun coincidences so the author can be excused.

All too often, success eludes those who give up at the 99th hour. PK survived in tact and successful through his dogged self belief and clever networking. It seems that his disposition allowed him to associate warmly with servant and authority alike, in a world of prejudice of all kinds, without any sign of permanent self pity. He capitalised fully on his talent - a God-given gift... and won.

Without a doubt, one of the greatest novels I've had the pleasure of reading, I've found it harder and harder to find a good book worth reading lately, so was very surprised when I stumbled upon this novel, rivetingly powerful, emotional, clever, this book is a masterpiece.

Who would've thought a book about a little boy, his grandpa and a chicken would be so powerful and moving?!? Unlike some Bryce Courtenay books, it didn't drag on. I didn't put this book down until I read it cover-to-cover (and it is a freaking huge book!!).
