A genuine classic, this book can give you chills as you read it all alone in your cold dark bedroom. This brings back the almost demonic nature of vampires as opposed to Anne Rice's more humanized characters. Also a good read in order to get a feel for the times that it was published in, the attitudes of the main characters seem to accurately reflect the time period for what it was.

Better than Frankenstein but a dissapointing ending. I wanted more of the Count and his frightening castle. Far too anti-climactic.

While it was nice to find out more details on this story which has infiltrated the world since its publication I didn't find it to be an enjoyable read, well written or very entertaining. It was all I could do to finish it.
