I just didn't like this play at all. I know, literary blasphemy again. But really, I found it totally overwrought and unconvincing, with the stupid moral about xenophobia and lying being beaten over your head so obviously it ruined any potential the play did have. We get it, they're faking it. We get it, people died and the queen bee chick is evil incarnate. Sheesh. It was hard to get in to this book when all the characters were so weak and ignorant. There, I said it.

had to read this one in hish school as well. it bothered me at how depressing it was for me- the fact that it was a representation of actual events (the Salem witch trials). was kind of disturbing for me

the truth in it's barest form. this play shows the human heart for what it truly is. and that is all God wants is our heart, no matter the condition it is in. the relationship between Elizabeth and John is what i consider to be a perfect balance of dependency and expectations of each other. this balance eliminates the fear of divorce. we are all human.
