This is a wonderful book with a quirky twist on the special relationships between women, both those who are related by blood and those related by life. Monk Kidd's writing style is brilliant. The book reads like a wonderful conversation. I almost started it over right after I read the last page. I will wait though, to savor the flavor of honey another time when I need beautiful entertainment.

Great book! I'm from the south so it is always good to find a good southern book. I like the richness of the characters and the humor.

Delightful and enjoyable. It was set in the southern US during the Civil Rights Movement. It deals with racism and the powerful bonds of women. I liked how just one photograph had such a significant impact on Lily and her relationship to her mother - ther loss and the potential :0) The story of bees and the parallels to the story - the importance of industrious, hard working bees, the motherhood, females bees dominating the community motherhood and maturity. Great book :o)
