One can hardly fault the science for being old as it was written back in the 60's except that the story isn't really compelling enough to stand on its own. Perhaps this would make a good book for younger adolescent readers but I never read it as a kid so all I can go by is what the story does for me now that I'm in my early 20's. As we follow the main character I was expecting the freshly minted genius to blind me with some insight about life, or the workings of the world or some such thing but it never comes. The author hints at all the incredibly smart things the character does in the background which we should be envious of but never gives the reader anything you can mull over yourself. It is however amusing to note the prices people pay for things, like seeing a shot of a gas station price board from an old movie. Overall this book is a way to kill some time, it's not terribly long, in a vaguely entertaining fashion.

I had to read this book for school, and I thought that it would just be so stupid! But then when I actually read it, I loved it! It was so sad, though when Charlie starts to loose his smartness or whatever you call it.. knowledge.
