Of these 4 plays, I like Alcestis the best. Unlike in Sophocles Philoctetes, the arrival of Heracles to set things right, was well done and seemed less of a deus ex machina. In Medea it was difficult to know who to sympathize with - Jason who without consulting his wife married another woman, or Medea who response to every trouble seems to be murder. The Heracleidae tells the story of the persecution of Heracles family after his death, but with some unexpected twists that do not improve the story. Hippolytus tells of the son of Theseus' persecution by his stepmother Phaedra because of his rejection of her advances.

My dog loved this book. He tore the cover off, and I told him: "You rip-a-dees-book, I touch-a-you-face!"Good comedy, euripides. Bad dog, you-rip-a-dees book.
