A wonderful memoir. Thank goodness I read it before the absurd Oprah thing. Heart-wrenching and inspiring memoir about overcoming a powerful addiction. Lessons for all of us.

I really liked this book and think it still has merit despite the fact that the author was "outed" for not telling a "true" story. It is a great story and very well written and I am sorry he got himself in trouble by claiming it was autobiographical...( he didn't really need to say that and I think it would have been considered a very compelling book about drug addiction and healing without all the hype....)

Wow ....... what a brilliant read ..... a must read for all book worms ..... I loved the way he told his story ........ brilliant and dynamic as it is all about making a decision and taking control of one's life..... brilliant

i sort of don't care that it was fake...or not 100% true. i could not put it down and i really did not believe it was true the entire time

A bland description which makes you skip lines, sentences and eventually even paragraphs, and still you know you haven't missed anything coz half of it is the repetition. At places, esp drawing towards the end, the story gets interesting and you feel like continuing with the flow, but alas! those times don't last long :| You do get to feel for the characters and the sub plots around, but still one lacks the feeling of going on with the story further ahead, to read what lies next.

I loved this book. I don't care if it was part truth or not, it was heart felt and I related to a lot of how his brother and parents felt. I loved how he described his friendships while in rehab.

Reviewed by Taylor Rector for TeensReadToo.com This is a terrifying novel about drug and alcohol addiction and rehabilitation. Anyone who has been or is in rehab for anything should be required to read this book. Anyone who has family members in rehab should read this book. Basically, everyone over the age of 14 should have to read this book. It depicts the horrible tragedy of addiction and how Mr. Frey overcomes it. He knows that he has an addiction problem when he wakes up on a plane not knowing how he got there, where the plane is going, or how he got a broken nose and a hole through his cheek. When the plane lands, he gets off the plane and has his parents drive him to rehab, where he receives detoxification and learns how to control his drinking and drug addictions. The book is his journey through rehab and how be becomes a better person. There is a lot of vulgarity and things that seem inappropriate but are a must for the story. The language is probably how everyone talked and the extreme drug situations are really what he went through. There has been a lot of controversy over this book because there are parts that are "embellished" and altered. If you can see though all of that, then this book is truly amazing. I wouldn't suggest reading this book if you are under the age of fourteen due the language and theme of the book. You also might not want to read A MILLION LITTLE PIECES if you have a faint heart or easily get sick to your stomach because there are some extremely graphic scenes in the book. This is one I highly recommend, though.
