The best book out there on Youth Ministry. It's the second time I've read it and I can't believe how much is packed into this thing. I plan on adding a few things into my youth ministry because of this book with the intent to work smarter than harder. Thanks Doug for a great resource.

When Fields says that his book is going to be less theory and more application, he wasn't joking. While there is some theory, one probably needs to read the Purpose Driven Church to get most of it. Fields wets your appetite and launches into his musical number. That would be my only critism. I know that he is the expert, but I felt like someone who had learned three chords on a guitar and was learning to write love songs. I guess, I need to read Warren's book. Fields does a great job of mixing the horizontal aspects of ministry with the vertical. I am looking forward to God's and I's "experiments".

this was one great book that helped me a long time ago in getting started in youth ministry. It gives great ideas and reasons to youth ministry.

Is good for youth ministry.You may not want to follow it directly as i think it can dishonour the way we see people not moving as quickly as we might want in discipleship. Rather than what God has planned for them.

Good theme and some pretty good ideas, but pretty boring to read. I guess I would probably recommend it to youth workers, but there are other youth ministry books I think I would recommend ahead of it.

Required reading for CEYL (christian education / youth leadership) majors at Cedarville. Cookie cutter approach meets an attempt to reach youth relevancy through a consecutive, yet organic process. Only problem, is that although organic, you can't plan relationships. A little too sterile.

Love the concepts, but be careful to think that you can apply every part of this to your student ministry. Every student ministry is different. You need to know your volunteers and your students.
