Other reviewers had let me know how hard this was going to be, so I knew in advance that this was rough, but I had to read it. It's a good story and it's pivotal to how the series will go on from here, because there are some major changes. I had some problems truly getting into this story that I haven't had with other books in the series, so I would have given it 4.4 stars if the option had been offered. I suspect the problem stems from the fact that Ash has been part of all the other books and now, in his own, the view of him is different. I still don't regret buying it, even at $20 in the ebook format, because I will read it again. And again.

 o_O Wow!
Acheron... Ash... Wow! First part was horrible for the little Ash he had been. I cried a lot over it! But I LOVED the entire book. I loved a lot Ryssa, his sister. Poor her, wanting to help her brother, but never being able to do so. Second part was AWESOME!!! I loved it, loved Tory, Ash. Sad, funny, this book has everything in it! Can't wait now for the rest! Jaden, Savitar, Nick! I need to have those book! ;)

OMG... when I heard this book was coming out I immediately went to the bookstore to read more about the all-powerful supergod we have all read about but did not know much about. The story is superb, a bit lengthy at first, but you realize how crappy Ash had it, and love him for it :) i love Sherrilyn!!!

Acherons story was worth the wait and hype. I was stalling cause I heard the first half was very sad and torturous to read and the amount of total pages was enough to back me off. However, after starting I could not put it down and was at the edge of my seat through the whole book.

The first part was exactly as I heard. It was so very hard to continue reading about my favorite character being abused so severly, but definitely a must to read as my daughter continued to yell at me.

Huge props to Ms Kenyon on another great read.

This book gave yu a whole new understanding to why Ash is the way he is, giving light to what could happen to anyone who might be in his shoes (or sandles in his case).

Holy crap! Ash's past is more tragic than I could have ever imagined and it made me want to cry! And this story shows you just how heartless Artemis is! Ohmigods, she really is a bitch-goddess! You come to know Apollymi a lot better and you just can't help but love her! Tory is absolutely PERFECT for Ash! And when she bitch-slaps Artemis and puts her in her place, it's freaking AWESOME!!! Also, this book shows that there may be hope for Nick yet. Gods, I hope so!! He's always been one of my favorite characters and it's always saddened me to see how tragic his life has become. Let's just hope that he knows better than to accept Artemis' offer of "friendship". We all know that she'd find a way to use him against Ash in the long run, given the current state of their relationship.AWESOME book!! It was everything I hoped for and more for Acheron!
August can't get here quick enough!!!!!

I am a die-hard fan of this series and was so worried that this book would be a let down. I've only bought 2 books hot off the press - this one and one by Suzanne Brockmann (SEALS). The Brockmann was good but left me not as excited about the series. Not this book! I never re-read a book, but the story of Acheron has left me wanting to re-read the whole series. Just so I can go back and say to myself "ohhh, that's why he did that!"It's so good I'm not even sure yet if I want to get rid of it. And that is saying alot for someone who has read thousands of books, yet only owns 5.The only bad thing I can say is that it is in hardback and I HATE hardbacks. The sad thing is I'm not sure it'll EVER be in paperback it's just too big I think.”

Wow. When Kenyon says it's going to be brutal, it's brutal. And you cna't help but totally feel for this guy. You're relieved when part two starts--this guys deserves some happiness! My only complaint is that the end feels so rushed. When the cavalry comes in and all your favorite past characters sride into Sanctuary, you think--now it's butt kicking time! But when the final battle takes place Kenyon almost forgot they were in the room--even before Acheron uses his super weapon. And she even has a character speak who was not listed as coming to the party! Very rushed. But overall, because this answers so many questions and opens so many doors, it was satisfying and cathartic.

I've read all the books in the series and love them all. Acheron; however is probably one of my all time faveorite books to date. His human story is almost too difficult to read, yet in the end he is the "harbringer of distruction." I've turned several of my friends onto this series and they have all agreed that Acheron is the best book in the series; and have read it more than once. *thumbs up*

An absolutely fantastic book that I stumbled across in an airport. A new twist on greek mythology with a little atlantean mythology thrown in. A destroyer of worlds going out of his way to save ours. READ THIS BOOK!

I absolutely loved it!! The first part was brilliant and extremely detailed. I felt everything for Ash. You finally get everything about him in chronological order rather than the bits and pieces from the other books and you finally get to find out why things are the way they are...along with some other things that you don't know. The second part seemed, rushed, for lack of a better term. I thought that things were moving a bit too fast and the whole premise of the book was rather dry. Ash's heroine was also a bit one dimensional as well, which I didn't really like but I did like her to an extent. I don't know...it just seemed like it was going so fast to end...and then it just gets a bit confusing from there...

Absolutely amazing! Her best yet!! As we find out just how tragic Acheron's life has been, I wanted to cry! After all that, look at the man that he turned into! It's amazing! Tragic in the beginning, I was smiling by the end and I absolutely cannot wait for the rest of this amazing series. This is the only series that has kept me entertained and begging for more with each new book. I'm anxiously awaiting the next book...although I'll probably go through this one a few more times before then... :) Enjoy this book for everything it is. And if you need me to tell you exactly what it is, read it again. :)

WAITED FOR THIS BOOK FOREVER!!!!!! Loved his past (first 3/4 of book). Well written and TRULY hilarious. Great insight into the beginning of the Dark-hunter Universe. This book gets a high rating just because of this. His present...not so much. The writing felt too rushed. And the female lead to unrelatable and unbeleivable. I expected more. But still worth the read because of the beginning.

The first part of his story was incredibly heartbreaking; it was hard for me to read yet I couldn't put it down. I was a little disappointed that part one was longer than part two though. And Ash's character was a bit different in this book compared to how he was portrayed in some of the other books. Don't get me wrong the book was amazing and it's definitely my favorite in the series. The second part of the book was sweet and romantic and made me wish I could find someone as kind as Acheron

Like everyone, I waited for this book to finally be written. Though, it was a good book, there were some aspects that were rushed and didn't connect. I was expecting someone much better for Acheron. The heroine seemed was so ordinary. I thought there should have been more to their love story since, we waited so long. I would still recommend this book because, Sherrilyn Kenyon is an awsome writer!

The first part was almost unputdownable. Kenyon intersperses scenes of beauty and simple joy with acts of barbarism, and she balances these so finely that I was shocked yet again by each act of betrayal that Ash suffers. I completely bought his back story. But the story unravels in the second part. Between the clunky prose, the need to close off the series arc, and the mass of characters crammed into part two, the romance got the short shrift. On the other hand, it reads more like her other Dark-Hunter novels, so if you love the series, you probably won't be disappointed. About halfway through part two, I began to question why, in the thousands of years that Ash has lived, this particular woman is the one who gets him. And to be honest, I'm not sure Kenyon answers that question to my satisfaction. More at http://bookthingo.com.au/acheron-by-sherrilyn-kenyon/
Well, I loved the first part. Despite feeling that the writing lacked a certain authenticity, I found the storytelling so compelling that the book was almost unputdownable. Acheron's early life is gruesome, and Kenyon manages to find that fine balance between laying it all out for the reader without making the violence feel gratuitous. About halfway through the first part of the book, I realised that Kenyon was playing me. And doing it beautifully. She intersperses scenes of beauty and simple joy with acts of barbarism, and she balances these so finely that I was shocked yet again by each act of betrayal that Ash suffers. I completely bought his back story. The complexity of Ash's relationship with Artemis is also managed deftly. In a way, I read theirs as a kind of love story, too, just not one with a happy ending. I cried for them a little. That was a bit of a surprise. Then I got to the second part of the book, which is shorter than the first, and things started to unravel a bit. I skimmed a lot, lot more in this part. I had high hopes for the romance, but between the clunky prose, the need to close off the series arc, and the mass of characters crammed into part two, I think it got the short shrift. The way she builds Ash's relationships in part one and uses them to show how Ash's character is formed isn't mirrored in part two. Or to put it another way, I never even came close to tears. If you like the Dark-Hunter books, you'll probably love Acheron. If you're squeamish, have tissues handy when you read the first part. If you just want to read the book so you can cure yourself of an unhealthy obsession with fictional characters, I'm not sure this will help. There is another series...
