i gave this book two tries. i liked it up until about halfway and then i hated it. The second time i again liked it in the beginning and i was hopeful that it would turn out better. Didn't. Alice Sebold i love your other books! WTF!>>

This memoir from the author of The Lovely Bones is a brave account of the author's experience being raped as a freshman in college. She searches inside herself to portray just how deeply this horrible event affected the fabric of her life and relationships in the years following the rape. Very moving.

A harrowing personal look in to a rape survivor's story. The book was emotionally hard to read but I still think it opens awareness to the hidden effects of a rape victim.

This book grabs you from the first page and keeps you going to the end. Alice Sebold is honest, gutsy and describes rape and its aftermath perfectly; while it is sometimes difficult to read, it is always worth the read and I highly recommend it to rape survivors and those who want to know about rape.
