Review: The third installment of "Teenage Emo Vampires in Love" finds Bella in danger (what? again?) from an army of newbie vampires created by Victoria, an old enemy seeking revenge in a newer way. Edward must accept assistance from his rival Jacob, setting aside their mutual animosity for the moment in order to save their one true love. During enforced confinement, Bella must confront her own feelings to determine if the path she's chosen is, indeed, the right one for her.

Unfortunately, for me, that determination becomes such a gag-inducing cop-out that I was irritated with the whole book because of it. I still liked it enough to rate it decently because, overall, it was comfy brain candy, and sometimes it's fun to yell at the book you're reading when the characters get lame. I mean, really, ultimately I was entertained and that's the main point, right? Even if I'm more relieved than not that I'm nearly done with the series. I definitely think that I could have stopped with the first book and been quite happy with that.

Ah well...in for a penny, in for a pound. At least there's just the one left?

I know this series is very character driven (which I like) but I have never liked the characters’ low self-worth (even Edward). They don’t believe they are worthy of reciprocal love. I felt this was finally resolved in New Moon for Bella and Edward but Jacob continues to make them question if there is possibly a better "human" option for Bella than eternity with Edward. It all works out but not to Jacob's liking.

Initially I was worried that Edward character hadn't changed or learned anything in the first chapters as he was extremely overprotective of Bella when danger was possible. However, something happened to him (perhaps reading the passage from Wuthering Heights) that made him realize he will only drive her away by being so controlling. From there on he started compromising with her about the "big" issues and the character and relationship noticably changed. This is when their relationship become more adult and they were able have rational discussions about the future.

Of course, having to deal with the immature Jacob definitely grated Edward's nerves. I think the discussion they had in the tent really justified Edward's actions and provided information for Jacob regarding his love for Bella.

I have the next book on tap but am hesitant to start reading it right now. I feel like I need to distance myself from Jacob and his immaturity since I know a portion Breaking Dawn is written from his POV.

The story begins with the revelation that Seattle is being plagued by a string of unsolved murders, which Edward suspects are being caused by a newborn vampire that is unable to control its thirst. Edward and Bella fill out college applications, while Bella explains to Edward her desire to see Jacob, her werewolf friend, again. Meanwhile, Alice Cullen has a vision that Victoria, a vampire who is hunting Bella, is back in town. Although Edward fears for her safety, Bella insists that Jacob and the rest of the werewolf pack would never harm her, and he eventually allows her to visit Jacob once in a while. A few days later Edward proposes to Bella and, despite having an aversion to marriage, she accepts.

Bella and the Cullens realize that the murders in Seattle are being committed by an "army" of newborn vampires, controlled by Victoria. The Cullen family joins forces with the werewolf pack in order to combat this threat. As everyone else prepares for battle, Edward and Bella camp up in the mountains, hidden during the battle, where they are later joined by Jacob and Seth Clearwater, a young member of the werewolf pack, to wait out the fight.

In the morning, Jacob overhears Edward and Bella discussing their engagement and becomes very upset. He threatens to join the fight and get himself killed because Bella doesn't love him. To stop him, Bella kisses Jacob and realizes that she loves him, too. Victoria tracks Edward's scent to Bella and Edward is forced to fight, despite Bella's wishes to keep him safely with her. After Victoria and her army are successfully destroyed, Bella explains to Jacob that while she loves him, her love for Edward is greater and she cannot live without him. After receiving a wedding invitation from a humble Edward, Jacob runs away in his wolf form to escape the pain he feels, angry at Bella's decision to become a vampire......................
BEST BOOK EVER!!!

Here I go again...warning...tirade to follow: As most of you know, I enjoyed New Moon, unlike the general population. My expectations were low for Eclipse because everyone was ranting about it. One word: predictable! Five words: blah, blah, blah, whine, whine. Where was all this action everyone was telling me about? Victoria's back...where's the suspense? How ridiculous that Bella was going to sacrifice herself. Jane shows up...this all-powerful vampire goddess does nothing to build conflict. She too, shames the power of women!

I am still pro-Jacob; and now I'm fired up with Bella because she proves to be a selfish, woe-is-me, dysfunctional teenager who cannot comprehend the value of a beating heart. I despise the game she plays with Jacob, who, when he's not a werewolf, is considered human. I was a little uncomfortable with Jacob's aggressiveness with Bella by the cliff; however, it worked. Bella realized that she does love him. This love is human; unlike the infatuation she has for Edward. This quality does not exist for Edward because he does not have a soul. Hasn't anyone read Dracula? Edward is a captivating character, however, that is part of his vampire makeup. He and Bella do not share the love they think they do. Bella, like many teenagers, and adults for that matter, expect drama in a relationship. Why is that?

When will we see a strong woman prevail? Perhaps in Breaking Dawn? Why are all the women in this series seduced by men; and therefore, portrayed as mindless and submissive wantons.

On a positive note, I do like Meyer's imagery, figurative language, and symbolism! Her style is captivating. Plot on the other hand, is simple. (But then again, you don't see me writing novels; tooshay). I wish Meyer would have had more conflict instead of Bella's whiny, two-boys-love-me-so-feel-sorry-for-me monotony.

If you haven't kept up with Stephenie Meyer's hot new series, here's a brief synopsis: Isabella Swan (Bella) moved from Phoenix, Arizona to the rainiest place in America, a small town in Oregan by the name of Forks. All of a sudden she's more popular than she's ever been in her life, which helps when she meets the hottest guy in school, Edward Cullen. There's something weird about him, though, which clears up when she discovers that he's a vampire. They fall in love anyway, but Bella is put in danger when another vampire decides to go after her. In the second book, Edward breaks up with her, which pretty much breaks her mind into tiny little pieces. While she's recovering from that, she makes a best friend, Jacob, who turns out to be a werewolf. Jacob is pretty much in love with her, but she hasn't gotten over Edward yet, and it looks like she never will. Werewolves and vampires being mortal enemies, this is a great source of tension.
In the third book, it's Bella's senior year, and she's got choices far more important than college coming up. Like what to do about Jacob now that she's back with Edward, or how to deal with the vampire that's still out to get her. If only everyone weren't so darned concerned for her safety, she could nobly sacrifice herself and keep everyone from their favorite pastime - saving Bella from dying.
Eclipse was good. Stephenie Meyer writes characters that not only think, but agonize over decisions lesser beings would make in a snap. I really love the minor characters, because you can tell that they are themselves, and not dependent on the main characters for a life. But am I the only one who sees the similarity in writing style between these three books and fanfics? It might be the heroine who is a trouble-magnet and clumsy, but still manages to get the perfect boyfriend. It might be the vampire who is not only a 'vegetarian', but just about perfect or beyond perfect in every way a human can be. Perhaps it's the guilty feeling that the author is giving me exactly what I want. Whatever it is, it will be interesting to the future books of this relatively young author, and see in which direction her writing goes.

Okay, this ended up a lot longer than I meant!! I won’t go over the plot again, so many other reviews have and better. Eclipse had more humour and maybe more depth than the previous books. I loved where Edward (anything with Edward) and Bella are writing notes to each other in English. It starts with him explaining what happened between the vampires and the werewolves on Cullen land, and turns truly hilarious! Bella starts asking what Edward would do in certain situations, and boy he had thought it out! (ex. “the pilots are passed out drunk”…. Edward would fly the plane! (sigh, what wouldn’t he do?) We definitely see more intensity, but the lighter side to him, and in Bella as well.

I liked when Bella punched Jacob for kissing her – and Emmett was funny asking if she was the only one allowed to fight with the werewolves. Alice is a phenomenal character, a force to be reckoned with for sure! Not only do we get to see her mock fight with Jasper (yikes), but her kindness and sweet manipulations of poor unstylish Bella. I laughed at her thanking Bella for her unpurchased-as-yet graduation present, and her and Edward’s chess match (they play against each other in their heads!) Ahhh and she gets to be maid of honour, I especially loved that part.

I felt bad for Edward when Jacob warmed up Bella in the tent, but found it also demonstrated the difference in their characters. Edward sacrificed his pride, his feelings just to keep her warm, and Jacob taunted him. However, I can’t blame Jacob for making the most of it (as he does later to trick Bella into kissing him) and he admits it. Both Edward and Jacob reveal their motives and feelings, and their conversation in the tent was one of the most intense of the book.

The beginning of Edward and Seth’s friendship was a nice twist, they fight together against Victoria and Riley and later share a little headbutt/fist-butt guy style after destroying the other vampires. I hope that that relationship develops more in Breaking Dawn, or at least Edward and Jacob are able to become friends (but I won’t hold my breath). Charlie is developed a bit more, he has to deal with Bella growing up (she threatens to move out, is getting ready to go away to college) and even gradually comes to know Edward better. He is even speaking to him in the end, and later observes Edward’s decentness. “Edward was really…nice. He seemed as worried about Jacob as you are – like that was his brother lying there.”

When I finished the book the first time, I was unsure where the next book would head, but after the second read really feel like although Bella was torn, she has reconfirmed her love for Edward. (I really wonder how she could even look at another man…. But then she doesn’t know I was waiting in the wings for Edward – and still will just in case). She is a little clingy, but then all the guys do tend to leave her. When Alice consoles her about having to choose between 2 good guys (and they are), Bella realizes she is not actually having to choose. “There wasn’t any choice to make – there was just breaking a good heart to attend to now.” I respected Jacob’s acknowledgement too, their last conversation was sad, but hopefully releases them as well. I like it when he calls her on how convincing she was kissing him back, even when she didn’t mean for it to go anywhere.

I hope Jacob imprints on someone, anyone else! (Leah maybe, she deserves some happiness too, and for some reason she does not like Bella, so maybe she’s already noticed him) I found him less likeable and somewhat stubborn, I would like to see him come into maturity and maybe he will even take over the pack. He is supposed to be the leader, maybe Leah got involved with the wrong guy/leader in the past!

The Wuthering Heights similarities were so romantic, and actually true to the characters. (Bella warns Edward to watch out for selfish women!) I liked her change of heart about her soul as well. First Edward has been worried about hers in changing her, and now she’s worried more about his! Bella’s realization of loving 2 men, and sorry, I still believe she is “in love” with Edward and “loves” Jacob more friendly-like. Finally when Bella quotes Cathy in WT to show her feelings I melted! “If all else perished, and he remained, I should continue to be; and if all else remained, and he were annihilated, the universe would turn to a mighty stranger.” I would have liked to see her a little more enthusiastic, but now that things have been resolved, maybe they will be. I hope Breaking Dawn is as fantastic as the rest and I can’t wait to see what Bella’s “after” car will be!

Twilight is just one of those series I love to hate. Even though I have been a critic of the first two novels, I found Eclipse to be somewhat more enjoyable. Perhaps I’ve grown used to Meyer’s sub par writing skill and lack of character development, but I found Eclipse’s plot to be much more interesting. Even so, it was still lacking.

I appreciated that we finally were introduced to Rosalie, we got more of a glimpse into the history of the Cullen family, and mortal enemies were forced into working together for the greater good. The latter was a great theme I wish Meyer had developed more instead of keeping the spotlight on a love triangle with a very predictable outcome (this series is about Edward and Bella after all, and Jacob is not imprinting on Bella—gee, what could the possible outcome be?), but it was refreshing to feel more action in this novel.

While I loved Jacob in the first two books, I lost all affection for him in Eclipse. The near-rape scenes were cringe worthy. Meyer took a perfectly good, realistic character and forced him into becoming the opposite of Edward, probably to make the vampire look even more perfect (if that were possible). And Edward, who is obsessed with controlling Bella’s every move so much that he goes as far as having her “kidnapped,” has an out of character moment when he allows Bella to make out with Jacob, confess her love to him, and shrugs it off as if it’s nothing. It’s just another annoyance I have with Meyer who can’t seem to keep a single character consistent.

I must say I was relieved that I only had to read Edward being compared to Adonis one or two times (I can’t remember exactly), although it’s ingrained in my brain that Edward is made of marble—his skin isn’t “like” marble, but “is” marble, apparently.

Bella stayed conscious all during Eclipse, which was refreshing. And she actually played a part in helping save her friends (which is based on an extremely long and boring Native American tale that should have been edited and greatly reduced—it’s snooze-worthy), but she is still the same weakling she’s been all during the saga. I do not and may never like Bella, but I’m hoping that will change with the next book.

Despite my criticisms of a lack of literary quality and poor character development, Eclipse was enjoyable and was a page-turner. Meyer is not the best of writers, but she is a great storyteller.

Well, if you think the first and second book in the series are good, then this third volume to the saga will be fantastic for you. There are loads going on in the book which makes it such a good read.

Time is getting closer to her graduation, and the time for her being turned into an immortal creature(whether she chooses the Carlisle option -change after graduation or the Edward option-change after they get married) , Bella must decide which route she is going to take and the consequences and scarifices she has to make.
On the other hand, mysterious killings starts to occur in Seattle which draws the attention of the Cullens. And guess who's behind this? Well you do not need to know rocket science to be able to answer this question if you have paid attention when reading New Moon. Off course it's Victoria. She makes a group of newborn army to help her to revenge the Cullens for killing her partner James. And hence the Cullens turn to Jasper, the newest member to the family for help. Jasper then gives a brief history of himself which also explains why he will be so good at the task. I like this as we do not seem to know who he is or where he's come from in the first two books, kind of mystery unfolded. Still a bit short of forces, the Cullens turn to other friends or coven for help but get nothing. Finally, they get the wolf pack of Jacob involved under the most usual circumstances, and the formation of this alliance is really, I think, a big turn in the book-and well, don't want to spoil you all, this will have a big impact on the story afterwards.

On one hand, Bella is under constant fear of the newborns and Victoria, on the other hand, she's been thinking about her choice. Rosalie and Jacob fill the role of putting her into persective and remind her of the things she will miss as a human. Rosalie, in my view, has been horrible(kind of bxxch, sorry for my language) in the first two books-the known dislike towards Bella, misinformed Edward of Bella's death etc but this book has really done her character some justice. She accounts her pre-human life and how she became a vampire, which is not her own wish. This helps explain where all the hate she has toward Bella is coming from. Jacob on the other hand, confesses his love for Bella in the hope that she would change her mind.
Throughout the story, you can see how both clans/parties, come to terms with their differences and form an alliance which finally destroy the outside threat. However, during the process, you can also see the clash between Edward and Jacob towards Bella. It's not just a conflict of the two moral enemy but more about the "being human" side of Jacob and "being immortal side" of Edward. This also makes Bella comes to realize her feelings for Jacob(which I think it's too late), which she's been denying all the time and wonder if she has made the right choice. In the end, not suprisingly, she chooses Edward and leaves Jacob in agony. Personally, I can understand her choice but I have to say I do feel so sad and sorry for Jacob-you will understand when you read the epilogue.

Overall I think it's an incredible read, packed with lots of chills, actions and most of all romance-all the things you want in one volume-really cannot get anything better than this!!!

I know I posted earlier, but they wouldn't let me post it on Amazon so I need to get it out of my system... It explains why I am pro BellaxJake

Okay, so this is what I think...

Yes, Jacob is a better match for Bella. As Jacob says, he would be healthier. Like oxygen, like the sun... not a drug.
Yes, he's a jerk. Yes, he's pushy. Yes, he's annoying. And hell yes, it surprised me a whole lot when Bella admitted to herself that she was in love with him. But you know what? For that split second, when she said he was right, he had always been right... I hoped. I hoped that she would love him, that they would spend the rest of time together... Similar to the flash-forward she had. Heres why...

Jacob is only human. I love him so much because... he's so much more REAL. Edward, seems to be so.. artificial. Bella's love for Edward is nearly unnatural. It's rash and unexplained. That is why she is torn from Jacob, because Edward is something entirely different. He is a drug. She is hopeless in his arms. But Jacob, their love for each other is real. You can see it, you can feel it.. When you read about it, you can almost taste the sincerity of it. Stephenie Meyer is an amazing author, that she had the bravery to put that out there. It hurt so, so, so bad to read it. It ripped my heart out. But thats what made it so good. I felt like it was me.

Wow, am I ranting. Well... one last hope, for those of us JacobxBella lovers...
What if once Bella is turned into a vampire, Jacob imprinted on her then? Wouldn't that be crazy? I'd die. In happiness, perhaps... Maybe.

Oh and I just need one thing understood... I do like Edward. And my feelings are that I do not want him unhappy, but I want Jacob unhappy less. I wish that Edward, not Jacob... had never come into the picture. That Bella could be happy with Jacob, and that Edward wouldn't have to suffer. As much as I want Jake and Bella together, I don't know how it can happen now with Edward in the way. Unless somehow... he was out of the way...
I felt so bad... at the end... I cried. :[

the first time I read New Moon, I didn't like Jacob at all. The second time I read it, I sorta did... Now after Eclipse... If I were Bella, I think I'd probably choose Jacob.

This book was.. fantastic. amazing. out of the world. But Jacob needs to come back in the 4th. He just has too. I hope he ends up happy. He's not perfect, but he's normal. There's just something about him that made me fall in love with him.

Now, to all Jacob lovers... Do you really think he hasn't imprinted on Bella? There's no real way to know, unless Stephenie says so herself or it is said and shown from Jacobs POV. But if he hasn't, wouldn't it be crazy if he imprinted on her once she was a vampire? It could happen, you know...

He needs to come back. I will die without it.

the most recent book in the twilight series. i loved the fact that Edward is still there – of course he is,-- what is there not to love? but this piece is weird somehow because i find Bella confused and self- contradicting. why could not she just choose on who she really like between Jacob and Edward (if i were Bella it would be very easy for me, no need to think).i finished reading this novel along with the other two in the series but i made the review late because this is the least commendable among the three. i mean, i loved the twilight best then new moon or eclipse, i don't know, maybe they are both equal in rank. i feel this way about it because Edward is like set aside by Bella. OK. given that she love Edward in a way that she could never love Jacob but still why can't she stop hanging out with Jacob, is she just confused or a flirt. i hate her!!! if she can't be with Edward then i would. or others would, helloooo, there are many of us who wants him. anyhow it is fiction so i should not be carried away with my thoughts and words and feelings or whatever. honestly i can't remember one highlight in the third book. wait. let me think first..one..two..three..four..ooohh.. now i kind of remember, this is where Bella goes to either La Push or to her house but Edward and her are still together and she can't still get Jacob out of her life. so the highlight is the group of vampires that Victoria formed to hunt Bella. see, Victoria is the mate of James which Edward killed back at the first part of the book. Victoria believes that her mate's life is equal to the life of Edward's mate. in short she is up for Bella and she desperately wants vengeance. the thing is, it might be hard for her doing that considering that there are two kinds of species (or kind, whatever you call it) that guard Bella, the Vampires and the Wolves. the cold blooded and the warm blooded. the bloodsuckers, as Jacob puts it and the dogs as Edward says it.what i do not quite succumb in is why,oh, why do Bella allow herself to hang out with Jacob if Edward's there. i see that Edward's so understanding but Bella's being unfair to him. she even kissed Jacob back. but Edward knew it because he could read Jacob's mind and inside that stupid mind is the kiss. but Edward simply ignored it and instead of snapping around like what would most people do – so OK i get it, it is because he is not human – he instead forgive Bella and he even told her that if Bella wanted to he could just live and have a normal life, have a family, grow old, be happy with whoever guy he chooses. so unselfish! see? what did i tell you. (i would never ever do that in a million years). the scene where Bella saw the future with Jacob is another part i hated the most. and if by chance the breaking dawn would let Jacob end up with Bella i just wish it wouldn't be filmed anymore. hah! so bitter.in fairness to Bella's situation, it is hard to decide whether to accept eternity or not. mom used to ask me that question when i was a child and i would say I'd rather have a life forever than to die early. but now, i couldn't be so sure anymore. what am i supposed to do if i am already alone? look at the movie Tuck Everlasting (i would make a review of that one, watch out!) the family lived forever right, so when the guy there fall in love for a girl who has a normal lifetime, he ended up seeing her grow old and die, he can't do anything about it because the girl does not want eternity. because sometimes a lifetime is enough to make you show love and be loved in return. i am so excited for the fourth book! coming sometime in August!i wonder whose point of view be used for the Breaking Dawn. i mean, Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse obviously used Bella's point of view but how about the Breaking Dawn? in the last chapter of the Eclipse, Jacob is the one speaking, it is hard to understand that, so would Edward be out of the way then? because if Jacob is to speak then how maybe he would not include Edward in it, maybe only himself and Bella. NOOOOOO!

My biggest problem concerning the twilight series is Bella. She's whiny, annoying and did I mention whiny? Seriously! What a whiny little bitch! Her scenes with Edward were pretty much the same as the previous two books. She thinks about how perfect he is, how insignificant she is compared to him and blah, blah, blah, she wants to be turned into a vampire, blah, blah, blah. Same old, same old. I had to resist skipping to the next chapter every time they became too unbearable.

If it wasn't for the other characters such as Alice and Jacob, I would have given up on this book a long time ago. Bella's interaction with characters that are not Edward is refreshing, interesting and in my opinion, the best parts of the book. I also enjoyed how we got to find out more about the Cullen's stories. I loved finding out more about Rosalie and Jasper. Rosalie's story was especially interesting since she has always been on the outside.

Discovering the truth about the werewolves' history was great. I couldn't put the book down during that chapter. I love Jacob. I hate how he’s in love with Bella though because I can’t understand why. She’s just so eh! Anyway, so I love Jacob. I wish that Stephenie Meyer would write a book that focused on just him. No Bella, no Edward. Just Jacob!

I don’t know if I’ll be able to read another book that focus on Bella and I really doubt that I can be bothered to read one from Edward’s point of view. He’s only slightly better than Bella in my eyes.

There were a lot of points during the book that logic seemed to fail the characters. I was frustrated by Bella's lack of a backbone to stand up to Edward when he forbid her to see Jacob and at how weak her denials to Jacob were. She was whiny and very self centred in this book, I felt, and it was annoying. So many arguements were repeated over and over and there's only so many times you can hear Bella complain and worry about being "normal" and unable to defend herself without WANTING her to get hurt and in trouble.

I wouldn't have a problem with the love triangle if I didn't end up close to disliking everyone involved with it. Bella wasn't being fair to Edward or Jacob, Edward needs to grow some balls and stand up to Bella and her wishy-washiness and Jacob needs to take a step back and stop pursuing Bella if she's not going to make up her mind.

Bella's attitude and her desire to have it all while not hurting anyone is done very poorly here. In the end she does hurt everyone, including herself, and her desire to martyr herself is lame, over dramatic and annoying. A good cliffhanger for this book may have been her deciding to take a step back from BOTH Jacob and Edward and figuring out who she is without them and finding ways to be self-sufficient. It might grow Edward a backbone and mature Jacob, as well.

This series has potential to get back to the intriguing premise it set out in the first book but the third book and the way the characters all floundered set it back and really reminded me of a bunch of whiny, self-absorbed teenagers. I was hoping that this series could rise above that and make capable, competent and interesting characters without resorting to cliches and pratfalls. I guess the outcome remains to be seen in the fourth book.

 General Likes:
- I can not stop myself from reading it (ie. the entire series).
- The characters (or most of them) feel real to me.

Dislikes:
- I agree with many other readers that Bella is such a whiner. She complains 90% of the time. Gimme a break.

- Bella also has very limited vocabulary (maybe that correlates to the fact she's a teenager who skips classes 50% of the time. ha). She describes Edward as a cool, perfect marble stone, or a statue, for over 1000 times in the past 3 books.

- I am starting to think Edward is actually a robot. His personality and characteristics faded into nothingness in Eclipse. When the half-naked Jacob goes into the sleeping bag with Bella right in front of him and hold her for hours, he's pretty cool with that (other than a few complaints). Bella is in love with another man, he's cool with that. He's no longer bothered by Bella's blood, he doesn't get horny, and his lines are beyond corny. His main "command" in his robot mind is to "protect Bella". I mean, come on.

Things to think about:
- Although this book claims to be a literature for young adults, It felt more like it was written for desperate housewives: you fall in love with two hot, perfect men in the same time and they both love you unconditionally. Both of them didn't seem to mind or blame you for it, but rather, they thought you had all the right to behave like that, and constantly tells you even if you picked the other guy, they will lure in the background forever until you have a change of heart. Wow. A wild sad woman's dream speaking out loud! If nature works like that, Jerry Springer would have no audience.

Regardless of what I said above, I still like this book and I can not stop myself from reading it and the entire series.

I never thought I would hate a book from Twilight saga.I was so wrong.I hate it in spite of the presence of my beloved Edward.I am totally disappointed.
First of all there is no mystery in the book.I knew from the first that it was Victoria who was doing all those crazy stuff.I don't know why the Cullens were so late to realize it.How dumb they were really? When they found out someone was in Bella's room and took her shirt I thought now they will definitely understand that it was Victoria. But no.They just played dumb. When they finally got it at almost end of the story I was relieved to know that they were not totally brainless.
Other than the "Killing Bella Mission" only one other thing in the whole story was Bella's dilemma. She whined and whined throughout the whole book about whom she had to choose and how she couldn't live without having both of them as her boyfriends.I came close to almost crying in frustration. She was just pathetic.Bella was not very beautiful, not athletic, not good in studies. She was not good at anything.I just don't get why everyone was falling in love with her. Finally after lot of whining and crying she chose Edward which I also knew she will do from the first.
I only read the book because Edward was in it.If he wouldn't be in this book I would have just abandoned it before finishing.I loved Twilight so much.I just cant get over it no matter how many times I read it.And this one,it just spoiled all the magic of Twilight.

This is probably my favorite in the Twilight saga. The characters are fully developed and learning the intricacies of both the vampires and the wolves makes for great reading. This is the book where all the characters seem increasingly real, not just Bella and Edward (or Bella and Jacob.) I also thought the relationships in this book were the most interesting out of the four books. The action subplot is also the strongest in this book. The first two and the last one are somewhat contrived (ie the "Big Misunderstanding) where the reader comes away thinking that some of the characters seem retarded. ie

Spoilers
Book 1: Bella going off to save her Mom (from a vampire) without any backup. Yeah, because he was really going to follow through on his word to let her go. Not that it mattered, because it was a videotape anyway.
Book 2: Edward's going to kill himself because Jacob told him her dad was at a funeral and Edward doesn't think to ask who died, just assumed Bella jumped off a cliff because she couldn't live without her man. Romeo and Juliet anyone?
Book 4: I actually liked the vampire baby, but the volturi was over the top for me. Honestly, they couldn't have sent an email explaining and sent a few pictures along?
BTW, I really did like the other books because the emphasis was on the relationships among the characters, not the action. Like I said, it was a subplot in the books.

Again, Bella and company return, this time in a complex love triangle. Edward is determined to never let Bella go again, and Bella finds his reluctance to turn her more unreasonable than ever when it appears that there is danger on the horizon for both her and the Cullens if she remains human. The Quileute werewolves are aware of the trouble as well, fully aware that the "serial killer" on the loose in Seattle might not be the sort of killer you usually see on the news. As Bella prepares to make the biggest sacrifice of her life, she knows that she will be breaking Jacob's heart, and Jacob is as determined as ever to get Bella to turn away from her vampire family and choose him. While at times predictable, Eclipse is a breath of fresh air after the melodrama of New Moon. Bella finally grows and begins to understand the people around her, whether they be man, vampire, or werewolf, and she is determined to make better choices than she has in the past. The Quileute tribe has an even bigger part of this book than the last, and Meyer continues to develop their intricate mythology and history, which is an absolute treat. Once again, most of the action is right at the end, and while the battle is satisfying, the pages upon pages of planning are excessive and verging on dull. But the characters in this book shine, their own entities, rather than just creations of the author, and that is what will inspire you to keep reading.

It has been raining here all day...the perfect weather to savor the third installment of Meyer's amazing Twilight series. I almost felt like I was in Forks. Of course I had to reread Twilight and New Moon while I waited for Eclipse to arrive in the mail. I finally got it yesterday afternoon and finished it this morning.

Eclipse brings us back to Forks, right before Bella's high school graduation. As graduation (and her change into a vampire) nears, Bella finally begins to consider the consequences of giving up her humanity. Jacob and Edward both play important roles in the story and Bella is forced to choose, once and for all, who she loves more.

Bella not only struggles with her personal life, but once again finds herself the target of bloodthirsty vampires (not to mention the Volturi). A series of murders in Seattle turns out to be part of a plot to murder Bella, so of course there is an exciting fight scene.

Jacob is still my favorite character and my favorite scene is when Jacob, Bella and Edward are in a tent together. The "discussion" between Jacob and Edward is both hilarious and sad. Other favorite scenes: When Bella stands up to Edward and visits Jacob despite Edward's jealousy. Emmett's reaction when Bella tells him she punched a werewolf. The bonfire where Bella hears the tribe's stories. Jasper's story. Rosalie's story. The meeting after Bella's graduation party. The night when Bella and Edward are alone together at his house that doesn't turn out the way Bella planned. The dress. Jacob's kiss 2. Edward's letter to Jacob. The epilogue--have I mentioned how much I love Jacob?

That's all I can say without spoilers...

A part of me wishes that I had not yet started reading this series because then the wait for the next book wouldn't be so difficult!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED reading for all. Run, don't walk to the nearest bookstore!

I think know they're fictional characters but I think I hate yes hate Bella and Edward ( I don't care how hot he is). They're evil for making Jacob suffer so. Physically and mentally and where does Edward get off screwing the knife in with that letter in the invite? That was just cruel. He was willing to give his life for Bella and what does she do but mess with his mind.

Ok and I'm not quite sure that I like SM anymore either because she has all the people of color in her books lead these unfulfilled lives where they are in service to all the white folks. Billy's whole purpose in her books is to protect Charlie. Jacob's existence is defined by his service to and sacrifices for Bella. Leah Clearwater is suffering and jilted and bitter. Emily Clearwater is disfigured. Sam Uley is tormented. Billy has no legs. Embry doesn't know who his daddy is. They go to a segregated school and Jake gets harassed both times he shows up on campus. Nobody on the res is happy except Quill and he's bonded with a 2 year old. To top it off they all live on a res which isn't exactly a high quality of life.
SM isn't so great in her portrayal of women either. Bella's life collapses when she's not with a man. Both of the men her her life manipulate her something awful. Edward controls her. She all but abandons her female friends when she's with her men with the exception of Alice who's related to her man. Alice, Esme and Rosalie all had torturous experiences as women in their mortal lives. Emily is disfigure by the man she loves and still cooks for him and all his friends when they are hungry. Jane is a sadistic tool of the men in her life. Victoria is both the user and the used.

Ok with all that criticism I still loved the way Meyers was able to engage me and keep me reading even when I was disgusted

I don't think I've ever jumped up and down after receiving a book. Usually I'm just like "cool the book is out," I started reading the book at around 1:00 after the day it came out. (i stupidly ordered it from Amazon instead of going to Borders) After running after my crazy friend to give me my book back I sat down and started reading. I didn't stop. The book is really a page turner!!!

Graduation happened for Bella, and for the first book you weren't at Forks high school a lot. I liked that, seeing as how a lot of us are growing up and are going through some of the same changes as Bella (College Applications, deciding where to live the next year, and trying to get away from overbearing parents) The only thing that she has is wanting to become a vampire to be with Edward forever.

The passion between her and Edward is very intense in this book. She's wanting to go further, and Edward is to afraid to hurt her says no. Instead he proposes again, and they want to go to Vegas to get married. Alice objects and like the party planner she is starts to plan their wedding. Bella thinks that everything is under control until.....

Jacob Black comes back. Her best friend. She'd thought that everything would be fine once Edward returned in New Moon. After she realized she wasn't dreaming any more, her life got back to normal. Only she missed Jacob. Edward changes in this book. He starts to trust Bella more, and lets her hang out with Jacob. I guess he gets tired of her sneaking off to be with him. After all who wouldn't be safe if they're surrounded by a bunch of GOOD wearwolvs? Alice only worries because she can't see Bella when she goes to La Push.

Once Jacob finds out that Bella is going to be turned into a vampire soon after graduation, he's not happy. He does everything in his power to make it so it won't happen. He even kisses her and tells her that he loves her, (this is after we find out Jacob is really 25 and not 16 so Bella no longer feels that he's too young for her) The first time she objects, and hits him while afterward breaking her hand. This part in the book was just amazing. Of course they kiss again towards the end because Bella realizes that she also loves Jacob.

She chooses Edward. After this entire trilogy why wouldn't she? Jacob is a great guy too and he can be there for Bella in different ways that Edward can't, but they soon stop fighting and start protecting the girl they love. This book was sooo good and I'm sure I'll be reading it again and again until Breaking Dawn comes out.

I hate people who spoil books for me, so I am going to start by warning you all. I GIVE STUFF AWAY! If you don't want to know, don't continue reading this review.

That being said, WTF!? This book was a perfect third installment of teh series, but not as good as its predecessors. For one thing, both Twilight and New Moon did so well in describing Bella's overwhelming emotions (love in Twilight, loss/pain in New Moon). I was left feeling.....nothing from this book in Bella's point of view. I can't say that I have been put in her situation of loving two people at the same time, but neither have I felt the immense love or searing loss that was so perfectly explained to me before. I was counting on Meyer to hit me as hard as she could with this new feeling. But I guess I overestimated her.

I loved the battle sequence at the campsite, but still didn't understand why Seth of all characters was chosen to remain there. I know what was explained in the novel, but it still baffles me.. I also thoroughly enjoyed the in-depth background given on Rosalie and Jasper. I know that all of teh other Cullens' histories were told briefly by Edward, and that Alice doesn't really have a history, but Emmet and Esme still had tales to tell!

Now for the best chapters of Eclipse. Firstly, chapter 20 - Compromise. This was the funniest chapter of all three books. I loved the witty banter and Edward's overly enthusiastic proposal, and Bella's attempt at ... well, you know. HILARIOUS.
Then there was the Epilogue. It was told from Jacob's perspective. When I said I got no feeling from the book, I mis-spoke. I should have said that I got no feeling from Bella. I was in pain throughout the Epilogue, just reading it. POOR JACOB!! The last paragraph had me in tears. How can a book end like that!?
Note to self: Contact Stephanie Meyer and ask her how she could do that to someone. Fictional they may be.

I was a little embarrassed when I started reading these, because they're bad. They're very badly written, they characters are not just generic, but really unlikeable, and there are huge chunks that any literate editor would have ripped out. But the plot was compelling. Not so much in the second book, but enough to keep me going. Slogging through Bella, our star, the typical teenage pretty person who thinks she has problems. Her biggest problem is that she doesn't enjoy things that are fun. She also throws herself constant pity parties, even twisting memories to be more morose. But, as all girls with real problems know, guys are suckers for hot girls who should be in the asylum, and Bella's scored not only a hot (though not terribly progressive) vampire and a sexy werewolf who is not only funny but knows how to fix German cars. And by now, the plot is running thin, Bella's choices seem obvious, and I'd really like to kick Bella in the shins, give Edward the vampire a good talking to about how women are not possessions, and maybe lock Jacob the werewolf up in a hotel room with a good deprogrammer until he realizes that Bella was not an angel on Earth, merely the first girl who didn't laugh at his Rabbit.

This is a perfect example of when a writer gets a good story (or perceived to be good by getting a film/TV series deal with lots of shiny bright new stars - see Harry Potter series for a good example)that they feel it is alright to churn out garbage to an adoring public.
Straight into the story with no recap of previous books (nice marketing, you have to buy them first)
The love triangle continues and you can see Stephanie Meyer was obviously a fan of trash American soaps like Days of our Lives etc as this book feels like episode 3 from series 27.
Strange thing is the more we as readers get to know about the characters the more one dimensional they become.
Still no point in resolving vampire ,werewolf and baby Bella conflicts when there is so much more profit to be wrung out of this series yet. Meyer even manages to introduce spin off character(book) Bree Tanner into the story.
Can't decide if I need to keep with this series as I am 3 books in but might just wait to the final novel to see where it all ties up because for now I don't much care

Minutely better than 'New Moon' and 'Twilight', but it was still just as horrid, and a complete waste of time, binding and paper. How is Meyer a bestselling author?

She creates one of the most unlikeable female leads in existence. Bella Swan is the most annoying, whiny, self-absorbed character in existence. Every time she is with Edward, Meyer goes on and on for pages on how perfect Edward is, what a gem he is, how she is so lucky he is her boyfriend, and how she wants to become a vampire. It took every ounce of willpower I had not to flip through all those chapters (which would have been a good chunk of the book).

The stories behind Jasper and Rosalie's past were probably the most redeeming part of the book.

I also truly appreciate how Meyer thinks Edward is better than previous male leads, and shoves it down our throats by comparing him to not only Romeo, but Tristan and Heathcliff. Ugh. Just stop. No seriously, stop. Edward is not better than any of those male leads. He is abusive, manipulative, self-absorbed, and shallow.

And Bella ... way to set feminism back to the dark ages. There is no way any self-respecting female would allow her supposed best friend to nearly sexually assault her twice, and let him get away with it. I also found it shocking that Meyer would actually attempt to play that supposedly serious scene with humour, on not only Jacob's part, but her dad as well. We also see the sexism and male-superior attitude in Rosalie's story as well.

Also, Bella seriously must have an IQ of next to nothing, because it took 400+ pages for her to finally establish a connection between the Seattle murders, and Victoria? Mind you, that probably works well, considering she must have failed a grade in order for her to be graduating when she is eighteen going on nineteen, and not seventeen going on eighteen. But, that is just a technicality.

I am slightly shocked that the racism was not as obvious as it was in the other two books. Interesting point of view switch in the Epilogue to Jacob's, but that is about all that I could find halfway decent with the book.

1.5 out of 5.

Bella really gets on my nerves. She has since the first book. What is attractive about her? As far as I can tell, she is not particularly smart, not particularly kind, very self-centered, and exceptionally over-dramatic about stupid things. I really wouldn't mind if Edward or Jacob killed her on accident.

And yet, I own all three of these books and like them fairly well. How embarrassing. I suppose it is the vicarious pleasure of these two attractive guys in love with the narrator, even if I do dislike her so much.

Also, I'm a little bit over the Bella-wants-to-be-a-vampire thing. OK, she wants to be a vampire. She doesn't really care about anything but Edward. She's an idiot. All right, already! At least the end of the book makes it seem we're finally through with that conflict, but I was through with it before the end of the second book.

The Edward-versus-Jacob thing was intriguing, but mostly in a lustful, soap opera kind of way, since I have, frankly, never felt that Bella and Edward have much better than a physical, superficial relationship.

Which reminds me... the whole section dealing with Bella trying to seduce Edward was off-putting. It only made me like her less. And Edward giving in at the end and Bella refusing him--that didn't really make sense to me, character-wise. Bella's always been an overly-romantic, selfish idiot, and I have yet to feel she has overcome that. Her description of herself as responsible is laughable to me. Therefore, I found it hard to believe that she was suddenly guarding Edward's virtue. That's all.

All that being said, I read the book in two days. I'm an idiot.
