The voice of this book was very similar to Jodi Picoult's. I enjoyed it. It was a very quick read.

The author lets the "secret" out-of-the-bag too soon. For me, it would have been more fun to not know as the main character didn't know....

If I'd known this had already been adapted into a movie on Lifetime when I started reading it, I'd have known not to expect anything great from it and accordingly wouldn't have been so disappointed. The first couple of chapters are the only reason I gave it two stars. Their description of grief was so much more realistic, thoughtful, and poignant than anything else in the book. It quickly ventures into schlock territory, though, and you can guess all of the "twists" chapters before they happen. Even if you couldn't, I think there are far better ways to explore the question of whether you ever really know someone without all the cheap melodrama. Nothing else redeems this book, either. Characters are boring and cardboard-thin, most of the dialogue bad. In a word, shitty.
