I loved this book, i read it in 3 days couldnt put it down, the only issue with i found was that it felt unfinished if you read it you will understand what i mean but i definately recommend it

A novel concept, telling a ghost story from the perspective of the ghost. I loved the story, although Ms. Sebold's prose seemed a bit choppy to me at times. This was her first attempt at fiction, though, and I am willing to bet that her writing style becomes smoother as she becomes more prolific. I look forward to seeing what comes from her imagination next.

It's like watching an episode of SVU, but from the victim's perspective. REALLY sad and REALLY good.

A very Haunting story, gripping and sad hard to put down. Interesting study on how each family member deals with the loss and grief.

Although about a very unsettling topic, this book was surprisingly good! Wouldn't it be great if one could "hang around" a bit after dying, to help the living cope with your death??

i read this book when i was 16, and i never forgot it! wow..this book is soo eerie..so sweet, and even frightening at the same time..it's so many things..it's, to me, a work of art..definitely in my top 3!

For the most part I really enjoyed the story. It’s an intense character study that examines the nature and effects of grief. There’s no mystery, we know who killed Susie, but there is still suspense in wondering whether Mr. Harvey will get caught. I loved how realistically each of the family members was drawn. It was amazing watching each of them react to their loss in different ways. Sebold does a wonderful job of painting each person as a three dimensional character, including Mr. Harvey, he is not simply a monster, but a damaged man who I almost, but not quite, felt sorry for... http://yodamarie.blogspot.com/2007/10/lovely-bones_05.html

This story is told from the point of view of a girl who has been raped and murdered. From heaven, she watches over her grieving family.The story portrays a family falling apart in their grief and rage, the murdered girl's desire for vengeance, and the ultimately pathetic life of the murderer. Pathetic in a bad way, that is.It's a good read, but given the fantasy element, people who like fantasy books might wonder why they haven't been told about it.
