Written in vivid detail. Louis' struggle with human mortality and love is beautiful. Yes it's a vampire story, but there is so much more going on in the book. It's like a philosophical commentary about what it means to be human and if one can still hold on to humanity after "death". I loved it. It has a beautiful sadness and tragic romance. Great book. A must read!

Now this is what I'd call a real Vampire novel, something that you can really sink your teeth into. Sorry, couldn't resist making a cheesy pun there. Louis is the centric character in this book, and through his perspective, you could really empathize with him about feeling as if he has been cursed to roam this Earth until the end of time as the abomination he perceived himself to be. Lestat was the ultimate anti-hero. No matter how terrible his behavior was, he plays the part of a power-hungry, egotistical and beautiful on the outside and stone cold ugly on the inside but you can't help but love him, anyway. Some of these newer Vampire franchises should take a page from Rice's book (yet another bad pun) and write a Vampire based series of novels that are actually entertaining.

I loved this book, I read it over 10 years ago and read other books by Rice. It was a lot of fun, it's a different and exciting story, not boring at all.

One of the most beautifully written books I've ever read. Anne has an amazing way capturing emotion and you truly feel like you're in Louis' head. I was addicted from the first few sentences.
