A great addition to Moreta's tale. Fills in the blanks about the other happenings in Pern outside of Fort Weyr. You openly cheer for Nerilka and hope for redemption after all the depressing follies in her life.

It was nice to finally get the story from one of the Holders instead of the dragonriders. It gave a new appriciation for the life the others lead.

This book is Nerilka's view of what happened to her during the time of Moreta.. these two books coincide and are from different viewpoints.. both are equally beautiful in their own..

this is my favourite alltime mcCaffery books i really feel like i identify with the main caracter and can understand her struggle to fit in and become more than anyone expected her to. from the book, Everyone, holder and dragonrider alike, pitched in to help-except Nerika's Father, who refused to share Fort hold's bounty with the other Holds. So ashamed of her family and determined to do her part, Nirika packed up medicines and supplies and sneaked off to aid her people. Her quest to help wherever she was most needed led her finally toRutha hold, where lord Alessan was frantically preparing the precious serum needed for mass inoculations agiant the dread plague. Nerilka had long ago abandoned the hope of marriage and a home of her own. Now she found happiness in being useful and appreciated-first the Healers and Then Alessan made very clear that they wre grateful for her help. She had no idea that her new path would change the course of her life forever!
