Third book in the Vampire Chronicles.

Lestat is back, narrating another book and breaking more rules. Lestat traces his vampiric roots back to ancient Egypt and we meet the first vampires, now as still as statues, seemingly unaware of the world around them. Lestat wakes Akasha, the Queen of the Damned, and sets an ancient prophecy in motion. Marvelous!

This book was very painful to read. I forced my self through just to get the story. I loved Interview with the Vampire and The Vampire Lestat...

The main story was good, but I just hated Queen of the Damned. The book should have more centered around Maharet and Makare and done with out the stupid side stories about unimportant characters, made up just for filler.

The entire book gives a variety of point of views, from many different characters, that range from current modern day events to flash back experiences that are important for the reader, explaining how the existence of vampires first began. One of the most important back stories that was unfortunately left out of the movie, was about a set of twin sister witches, Maharet and Mekare. They play a huge part in the creation of the first vampires in Egypt, Queen Akasha and King Enkil. The story of the twins also explains the "Great Family", Maharet's family tree that is seen in the movie.
