This one was one of my favorites, it tied in the Vampire Chronicles to the Mayfair Witches, and even though I didn't care for the Mayfair books I liked the tie in between the two.

It's been a while since I last read Anne Rice, particularly The Vampire Chronicles, and it was nice to revisit old friends. I'm not a big fan of David Talbot though and much prefer Lestat's voice, so this wasn't as great as the previous books for me. Still, it's a well-told story, and Rice once again amazes with her eye for details. It was also interesting to see vampires and witches side by side.

Not as good as the others, too much drama if that's possible on a vampire tale. But it's a nice, easy and entertaining book.

Was a great cross over between the vampires and witches all inter woven in all her Vampire Chronicles novels. Loved it.

Well it's a good book and one of the reasons that i didn't understand the hole plot it's because I didn't read The Withching Hour. It's a long time i didn't read the vampire chronicles and i was expecting more compare with the other chronicles. It has hipnotic and sometimes heavy chapters.It's always great to know what's new with lestat and Louis. PS: I hate David Talbot

This book showcases Anne Rice's need to blend in everything she's ever written into everything else. It is vastly different from the first in this series. The series went from vampires living on the earth to witches and spirits and ancient creatures and God and Jesus and the devil...it was very disappointing. There was almost no resolution whatsoever...the first signs that the Vampire Chronicles were never going to be resolved. There were a great many questions unanswered and a great many paths begun but not followed up on. Having said that, Rice simply astounds with her studies of voodoo and the old south, namely New Orleans, of course. As usual, her research is amazing and brings history to life.

At times forgetting the wonderful vampiric world, this book is definitely a different point of view on... well, a lot of things lol. I was instantly drawn into it by the world that David described, the mortal world that in his mortal life he combined with the supernatural world. Merrick was definitely a interesting character, as well as all the Mayfair family. But still, maybe I'm too in love with the Vampire Chronicles to deny the fact that the best part of the book (for me) was not Merrick, or witchcraft... but Louis. Louis, longing to see Claudia once again, even if just in spirit. Longing to know if she was in peace. As for Claudia... gosh, I hated her and loved her as I've always had. The diary and everything concerning the memory that Louis kept of her almost made me weep. I'm not going to spoil (a review is should not be a spoiler lol) anything, but I just have to say that, with this novel as with the past ones, the best parts of the book for me were the start and the ending. As for David, I'm just grateful to get to know more about this character and learn to get into it as with all the other Vampire Chronicle's characters.

Amazing book...tho not a part of vampire/witches chronicles, cause that series doesn't exist. Anne Rice wrote 'The Vampire Chronicles', Lives of the Mayfair Witches' and 'New Tales of the Vampires'. The Chronicles include, Interview with the vampire, the vampire lestat, queen of the damned, the tale of the body thief, memnoch the devil, the vampire armand, merrick, blood and gold, and blackwood farm. Lives of the mayfair witches include the witching hour, lasher, and taltos. New Tales of the Vampires include Pandora and Vittorio the Vampire. All are completely amazing, she writes the description of every scene so graphicly that you can picture it exactly even the scenes that are from 500 years ago. There's suspense and action and feeling and love and of course since it is written by Anne Rice there's always a lil erotica.

LOVE the witch chronicles! So very spooky. Anne Rice can make you see, smell, taste and touch the eeriness of New Orleans while you are sitting at home in your most comfortable chair. I cannot wait to visit there some day just so I can see and smell those bougainvillea bushes!

A very captive book even though the story is a bit weak comparing to others in Vampire Chronicles. The book is named Merrick,but i think the story is more about David. Merrick as a character is a bit weak and I am more captivated by David's take on life and Louise's suffering. However it's still a good read and worth every minute that you spend on the book.

I was very excited to read this book, and I wasn't disappointed! This is Anne Rice's first novel which merges both her witch chronicles and her vampire chronicles books. Overall, I would say that this is mostly a vampire chronicles book, because the plot itself is only concerned with vampire mythoology. However, there are several references to the mayfair universe, which is great. Best of all (for me), Louis makes a comeback as a main character in this book. He's probably my favorite character, so it's nice that he came back in a big way. Merrick ended in a sort of a cliffhanger, leaving you wanting more. A must read if you love either the Mayfairs or the Vampires.

A good story with a great balance between witchcraft and vampirism. The fate of merrick is a bit predictable though.
