Unlike any other book of the Vampire Chronicles, the best part of this book (for me) is the middle part, not the start or the ending. This book is really all about Tarquin Blackwood and his mortal life. His family, his house, his town, and everything concerning these points are the essence of the book. I really didn't feel like Quinn as a vampire was the main plot, and I have to say that it came a point (in the last 200 pages) when I felt like the story was just struggling to end quickly. Still, I was captivated mostly by Rebeca's story. Still, I found this book maybe a little bit... to wide. In the sense that it tried to explain mortal, immortal and spiritual life.

I haven't read any of the other Vampire Chronicles...yet, but this was an awesome book. I didn't feel lost at all with the vampy parts of the book and the main storyline was full of surprises and even a few laughs. I'm going to encourage people to borrow this one!
