For fans of Terry Brook's world of Shannara, this book does not disappoint. I loved to see the return of Grianne, Ahren, Sen, Bek, and Rue. The introduction of Tagwen (probably my favorite character), Pen and Khymber were also welcome additions. This book picks up about 20 years after the events of The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara. Grianne has formed the Druid Council completing her pledge to a dying Walker Boh but not everything is as it seems or maybe it is...and soon Grianne finds herself in a foreboding situation.

Jarka Ruus is pretty much standard fantasy--or maybe it just seems that way, because this world has been part of my fantasy reading for so long. It was a fun, interesting story, with likeable characters, and if it didn't have anything I didn't expect, it also didn't lack anything I did expect.

This is the first book of the fourth series of Shannara. The similarities to Lord of the Ring have long been gone and the series has evolved into one of the best fantasy/sci-fi series of the modern era. Brooks(this'll piss of tolkien fans) has surpassed Tolkien on so many levels and has remade this face of fantasy over the three decades he has been writing this series.

I love all of Terry Brooks' Shannara Series! He is one of my Favorite Authors!I hope to be able to capture the reader's imaginations, and create such entrancing characters as he does, someday.
