Great book, in the same line of Freakonomics - gives you insights of why things work the way they work, and how the economy works (or should work).
It has a strong tendency towards liberalism, and does not address in details the issues the liberalism brings. But it serves its purpose of giving a basic understanding of the economy engine.

A simple explanation of how economics relates to so many aspects of our lives from the price of a coffee to the growth of China. Very readable!

Compulsory reading. Tim Harford uncovers the hidden forces in everyday situations... from why you paid that extra 50c for your soy latte, why there's always a Windows "pro" and "home" edition, getting rid of road congestions and pollution, to designing the best radio spectrum auctions, why lobby groups suck and buying fair trade doesn't really do anything (except for the feel-good factor maybe), and the big question: how did China become so damn rich and why Cameroon got left behind.

Interesting read if you know little of economics or knows economics but just like to have some light reading about it. What Harford covered here is basic economics.

I have to confess that I was too angry to finish the last chapter because Harford believes so firmly that a capitalist free market always works. Sadly this is not the truth.

The explanation of pricing and tradeoffs in decision making is very good. The discussion of tax policy is dissapointing, but the discussion of prices, behavior, and interactions is quite nice.
