At first this novel has a different feel from other PKD novels. The intertwined stories of nuclear war survivors build into a crescendo of competition for power. I don't feel it truly coalesced, but it could be simply the many bizarre elements that clash together. Radio programs from space, internal conjoined twins, and omnipotent cyborg cripples. Yeah. Not my favorite PKD novel, but it does stick with you.

Really loved they way the characters simply coped with what ever happened. Feels so realistic, life just carries on. There was no great conclusion or lesson just an interesting series of events with normal-ish people.

This short novel is Philip K. Dick's take on the post apocalyptic dystopian society. It is filled with his typical mixture of humor and pathos. As is typical of Dick's books, Dr. Bloodmoney is an easy to read story that flows quite nicely and ends up in a place that you probably didn't quite expect.

Cold war paranoia ftw!but the telepathic powers make it less compelling than it could have been.

easy his most accessible work, not for the subject matter, but for the characterization. I had thought Dick was an ideas writer, not a keen observer of humanity, but this reads closer to vonnegut than anything, and proved me some way wrong. definately a hype-free excellent entry level book to his works

I'm only halfway through but this book is getting better by the minute. I'm a big fan of Philip K Dick but in starting this I thought I'd found one of his weaker books. I was wrong. It's jam-packed full of weird and wonderful ideas from the simple - mutant animals that have evolved basic intelligence - to wider investigations of society in a post-apocalytpic world. The themes and approach are so relevant today that I'm always amazed that his isn't current writing.

Not a overly thrillig read but very good. Joppy is one of those characters who jump out of novels and stick in your mind.
