One has to adapt oneself to the pace of this old-fashioned tome. It moves slowly and pours out like poetry. A very lovely read, so glad I took the time!

i loved this book. it was one of my moms favorites and was reminded of it when we both read the thirteenth tale last year. haunting, tragic, complex and lovely. why can't more books be this wonderful. high fives all around.

Very readable but I found the 'heroine' (can I really call her that?) incredibly annoying.
