Godawful "sequel" to Summer of Night (which was excellent.) Not only does Simmons re-write the characters in the first book, but the inclusion of magic makes you wonder; why the hell didn't this happen in the first book? I've also never seen so much product placement in a novel before. A really disappointing effort from an otherwise solid novelist.

Horrifying in the way only really great horror novels can be. Entertaining and scary. Don't read alone on a dark and stormy night.

Felt this was a total waste of my precious reading time! Could have been spending time reading the back of a creal box! was that harsh......ok..I'm in a mood...I love his other books that's why I'm mad. Disappointment, anger..leads to mood swings. It's as if some other hack author hijacked his book.

A meandering follow up to the "Summer of night". I know that it cannot be the same book all over again and it is an interesting take on the follow up idea, but it just left me a bit cold.

this book had some interesting ideas but didn't keep my interest. there were too many gaps in the story, i couldn't sympathise with the main character, i couldn't have cared less about the death of his friend 30yrs previously and couldn't understand the motivation of the man staying at the farmhouse. to finish the book, i ended up staying up all night (in the hope it might become interesting). the result was that i finished the book but was left feeling frustrated at the turn in events. apart from boredom, this book left no impact on me.
