This was published WAY before the twilight saga ever began, at least to my imagination, and i still love Amelia for her talented mind in the creation of her characters. Unique, and not drawn out through 4 books. still read it on a rainy day though i know it page for page and finish in like 30 minutes.

About an author who realizes that the world she writes about in her non-fiction is actually real. She meets the characters in her books, befriending few and making enemies of most. Stupid really... Well... at the time I read it I was pretty emo, so I thought it was pretty cool. But now that I look back on it, Atwater-Rhodes tends to ramble on and on and the action is pretty slow. But it's pretty good if you want some dark emo romance.

As the dust-jacket constantly reminds us, Atwater-Rhodes wrote this "gem" at the age of fifteen. I wrote bad fanfic at the age of fifteen, too, but at least I had the courtesy not to inflict it on other people. Frankly, the only thing that surprises me about the work is that the author isn't male, as it's got a very distinct 15-year-old-boy-in-the-backseat bouquet: no rhythm, no poetry, and no payoff. Girls, stay home and wash your hair instead.

I actually view this as one of Amelia's weakest novels. Jessica is an ordinary high school girl who just so happens to have published a novel (conveniently based off of and featuring the same characters as Amelia's first novel, which she published when she was fourteen). When the characters of Amelia's -- uhh, I mean Jessica's -- novel start showing up in real life to kill her, what's a girl to do but fall in love with one of them?

In all seriousness, though, this was one of my least favorite books as a kid, and to this day I've only read it twice, even though I'm approaching run numbers 4 or 5 for her other Den of Shadows novels. I'll cut Amelia some slack because she was 14/15 when she wrote this, and she probably did need to channel some of her teenage fantasies out on pen and paper. We all need to do that sometimes.

It still doesn't make it a novel worth reading.

Do yourself a favor and read the other three books in the Den of Shadows instead. She's a brilliant author, but you won't get that from reading about Jessica Mary-Sue Allodola and her dream boat vampire Aubrey.

I just can't seem to enjoy Amelia Atwater Rhodes' books. This book focuses heavily on the element of vampirism and blood, as well as the vampyric history of Rhodes' characters. However, it was far too sterotypical and predictable for my taste; goth girl writes angsty vampire fiction and is shunned by all, only to meet a character that she has written about and fall for him. Jessica and Aubrey had very little chemistry, and the characters were confusing and unlikable. How did this book get published? It's like Rhodes wrote fan fiction for her own book, In the Forests of the Night! It was, over all, a disturbingly disappointing read.

I loved Amelia Atwater-Rhode's first few novels [including Hawksong & Demon In My View] but it seems like a lot of them have lost any real feeling to them and I find myself falling asleep before I get to the 2nd page.

This book was what began my reading adventures in the world of supernatural and romance. I don't think anything could have beaten this one from my favorite's list except Blood and Chocolate.

The a teenager named Jessica is the main character in this one and has no idea the stories she is writing are actually built on truth/facts. Hence her 'fictional' vampire [Aubrey] comes to take care of the problem [her] by entering himself in the same high school. I don't remember the exact storyline because I was only in middle school when I read this but it will always be a favorite. If you are into sex related stories, full on action, or too much deep thought then don't bother. This is definitely more of a young adult novel.

Not too bad, especially since it was written by such a young author. It was a really unique idea with for vampires. They could make a movie out of it.

Sequel to In the Forests of the Night.

Jessica is shunned by everyone at school, but she doesn't care. She prefers the vampire characters she writes about. When a character from one of her books, Aubrey, shows up at school, Jessica is forced to consider that her vampires might actually be real.

An interesting tidbit is the fact that certain vampires become stronger than average because they become vampires unwillingly. The more they fight the change, the stronger they eventually become. I thought that was a nice touch.

Now Jessica has revealed many secrets of the vampires and several are out to get her. She must choose death or to become one herself.

It's been a while since I read this but I do remember this being my favorite book of Amelia's series, I've read through the series at last 4 times and this book alone three.

These books hook you and slowly reel you in, you be constantly on the edge of your seat trying to speed read to turn the next page.
I was so into these books I actually screamed/squealed at certain parts!

I remembered being in love with this book when I was in middle school but was foggy on the details when I asked for it for Christmas years later. After rereading I am highly disappointed, maybe I have become jaded, or "matured". But I found the book to be stunningly boring and one dimensional. So highly recommended for preteens but not so much for anyone else. Unless your a fan of books that are similar to Twilight.

 Reviewed by Me for TeensReadToo.com

Jessica Allodola, a senior at Ramsa High School, is not your average teenager. Under the pen name Ash Night, Jessica has already published a vampire novel entitled TIGER, TIGER. She also has a pretty mean spirit, goes mostly ignored by her fellow students, and acts mostly indignantly towards her adopted mother.

The problem is that with the arrival of two new students in school, Caryn and Alex, her book seems to be coming to life. Caryn claims to be a witch, descended from the Smoke line that Jessica wrote about in her book. Alex, a spitting image for her anti-hero, Aubrey, might very well be a vampire. And suddenly life starts to get a whole lot more confusing.

DEMON IN MY VIEW is an entertaining vampire story, but it never gains the potential it might have if the story was fleshed out a bit more. Although Jessica's fiction begins to merge with real life, the chapters of the book are short, and the characters, though interesting, aren't as well-rounded as they could have been. What really irritated me about the book was the ending.

--SPOILER--SPOILER--SPOILER--
Aubrey turns Jessica into a vampire to save her life, but there's no resolution after that. Wham..she's a vampire..the end. I would have liked to have seen how the story progressed.

Overall, DEMON IN MY VIEW is a quick, fun read, but it's definitely not the best young adult vampire story out there.
