My first Vonnegut read (I don't know what took me so long). I really read this fast on a plane going overseas...very funny, and profound all at the same time.

Another Vonnegut classic, but this time it doesn't focus on war or the bombings at Dresden. In fact, it doesn't focus on one thing specifically, but rather, relies on a broad span of satirizing humanity as a whole. I found the book to be quite funny, in a darkly satirical way, and by breaking up the story into short segments, Vonnegut creates snarky one liners that add to the commentary of the book itself. Overall, it's an interesting look at how people view altruism, and the greed and evil that the flesh is heir to. A great read indeed.

This is the first Vonnegut book I have read where I feel like I must be missing something. Normally there is a larger underlying theme along with the black humor and bizarre settings. However in this case I simply didn't "get it". The ending also seems abrupt and doesn't leave you to think about anything as all of his other books do for me. Definitely my least favorite as I work my way through his bibliography.

Was quite disappointed with this. I didn't find it as funny or engaging as other Vonnegut works. I suppose everybody has to have at least one dud!

Loved it...although the ending left me wanting to read more about the outcome of the case. I would take it that Kurt didn't find the outcome relevant- R.I.P.

I think no matter what we are,good or bad, we have to be sincere about ourselves. It's easy to show others how good, nice or kind we are. But to show others what we really are is something else. Mr Rosewater is the most sincere and the most honest character I ever knew.

I need to stash this treasure away for a few years so that when I read it again I can be reminded of just how much this champion writer managed to cram in! God Bless You Kurt Vonnegut!

No real comments. The main characters are not really likable, and I learned from Kurt that there should always be someone in the story who the reader can root for. That's not really the case here.

This book, along with Slaughterhouse-Five, is Vonnegut at the top of his game. "Poo-tee-wheet!"
