Wow!! What a book!! This was recommended to me by a close friend and i am so glad she did. I read the whole story in about 8 hours, i really couldn't put it down. Personally, i can totally relate to Emma, knowing someone who won't share his secrets yet i am only too ready to give up mine - well, i thought i was on my own there. A 'must read'.

This book is in true Kinsella form, it was a quick read (I read the entire thing on a 3 hour flight) and was laughing out loud on the plane! If you enjoy fun Brit humour, you'll enjoy this one!

Rebecca has been asked to visit a client who will renew their contract with their firm, no problem (which is why Rebecca was sent to get the contract signed) but she was blindsided and they decided they were not going to renew and she does what she can (Bloomfield-style!) to save the client. It doesn't go well ... and on her flight back to London, the plane is in danger of crashing. She spills her guts to the devastatingly handsome stranger in the seat next to her, who turns out to be .... read it and find out!
This book is so great, I read it on a plane and was literally laughing OUT LOUD! Great book!!

Emma is sitting on a turbulent plane. She's always been a v. nervous flyer. She really thinks that could be her last moment. So, naturally enough, she starts telling the man sitting next to her--quite a dishy American, but she's too frightened to notice--all her INNERMOST SECRETS--How she scans the backs of intellectual books and pretends she's read them--How, she does her hair up like princess Leila in her bedroom.--How she's not sure if she has a G-Spot, and whether her BF could find it anyway.--How she feels like a fraud at work--everyone uses the word 'operational' all the time but hasn't a clue what it means. --How the coffe at work is horrible--How she once threw a troublesome client file in the bin. If ever there was a bare soul, it's hers. She survives the flight, of course.... and the next morning the famous founding boss of the whole mega corporation she works for is coming for a look at the UK branch. As he walks around, Emma looks up and realises....IT"S THE MAN !!!!

A truly entertaining book that will have you break into grins and unbelievable laughter throughout. Imagine babbling your most intimate secrets (including how you don't really love your boyfriend that much), and innermost thoughts (like all the complaints about your job) to a perfect stranger on a plane just because you thought you were about to die, only to find out the next day that the stranger turns out to be your biggest BOSS!! CEO of the company as a matter of fact. So begins the journey of discovery, of friendships and new romance, all with that embarrassing feeling that every wink or grin from your boss might have some hidden meaning. The ending does not disappoint too, since the whole book is meant to be enjoyable and fun *winks

Oh, and love the cover. Purple's my color and snow globes are my thing =D

This is a Chick Lit book that I am not ashamed to say is one of my favorite books. I have read this book over and over again and it never fails to make me laugh out loud. If they could pull if off, it would be an EXCELLENT film (but that NEVER happens and they never do the book justice.. I heard a very long time ago that Kate Hudson was supposed to star in the supposed film-version..).It's cute. It's fun. You fall in love with Emma because like everyone else she has her embarassing secrets. It has that witty British humor, its easy to read and puts a smile on your face, what's not to love??

This one was a quick feel good read. The lead character getting drunk on a plane b/c she's afraid of heights and then spilling all her secrets to a handsome stranger only to have them come back later and haunt her-would be me, if I didn't have the damnable Capricorn luck. All in all, a funny, cute book with a happy ending.

I really liked this story. I liked Emma's story. I liked Jack's story too. I don't think I would have ever opened up like Emma did. Perhaps I understand the need to keep secrets more than she does. Perhaps I am not nearly afraid to fly as Emma. Whatever the reason, I think I would be as mortified as Emma and she showed a great deal of courage. There is something about Sophie's heroines. They are nitwits and crazy paranoid but they are very human, entertaining, and full of life. I wish I could be one sometimes but I lack the spirit and bravado.

This was the first non-Shopaholic book I've read by Kinsella. I knew I could count on her to give me a bit of enjoyable, spirit-lifting chick-lit though.
When I first began reading I was slightly worried by the similarities between this story and the Shopaholic ones. The characters, the premise, the set-up... it all seemed a bit too familiar. I started to wonder if Kinsella is just a very formulaic author, and that I'd already read the one story she was capable of telling.
I'm glad I kept reading, however. Despite the similarities, I actually enjoyed this book more than the Shopaholic ones. I think it's because I could relate to the main character so much more. She wasn't a materialistic, possession-driven obsessive like Becky; she's a girl who shops at charity shops and would just like the approval of her parents.
Not to mention I'm always drawn to a British/American romance (wonder why!).
I think this story could make a better movie than Shopaholic, but that's just me. Perhaps it wasn't as uproariously funny, but it was more down-to-earth and believable.

Hilarious! Completely chick lit, but I loved it. A woman's on a plane and she's scared of flying. In her panic attack, she starts telling every secret she's ever had to the guy sitting next to her who (surprise surprise) becomes the love interest...and her boss. My favorite part...

I copied this from the ebook.

"We're going to die.
'I'm sorry?' The American man in the next seat looks at me, his face tense and white. Did I just say that aloud?
'We're going to die.' I stare into his face. This could be the last person I ever see alive. I take in the lines etched around his dark eyes; his strong jaw, shaded with stubble.
The plane suddenly drops down again, and I give an involuntary shriek.
'I don't think we're going to die,' he says. But he's gripping his seat-arms, too. 'They said it was just turbulence-'
'Of course they did!' I can hear the hysteria in my voice. 'They wouldn't exactly say, "OK folks, that's it, you're all goners"!' The plane gives another terrifying swoop and I find myself clutching the man's hand in panic. 'We're not going to make it. I know we're not. This is it. I'm twenty-five years old, for God's sake. I'm not ready. I haven't achieved anything. I've never had children, I've never saved a life ...' My eyes fall randomly on the '30 Things To Do Before You're 30' article. 'I haven't ever climbed a mountain, I haven't got a tattoo, I don't evenknow if I've got a G spot ...'
'I'm sorry?' says the man, sounding taken aback, but I barely hear him.
'My career's a complete joke. I'm not a top businesswoman at all.' I gesture half-tearfully to my suit. 'I haven't got a team! I'm just a crappy assistant and I just had my first ever big meeting and it was a complete disaster. Half the time I haven't got a clue what people are talking about, I don't know what logistical means, I'm never going to get promoted, and I owe my dad four thousand quid, and I've never really been in love ...'
I draw myself up short with a jolt. 'I'm sorry,' I say, and exhale sharply. 'You don't want to hear all this.' 'That's quite all right,' says the man.
God. I'm completely losing it.
And anyway, what I just said wasn't true. Because I am in love with Connor. It must be the altitude or something, confusing my mind.
Flustered, I push the hair off my face and try to get a hold of myself. OK, let's try counting again. Three hundred and fifty ... six. Three hundred and
Oh God. Oh God. No. Please. The plane's lurching again. We're plummeting.
'I've never done anything to make my parents proud of me.' The words come spilling out of my mouth before I can stop them. 'Never.'
'I'm sure that's not true,' says the man nicely.
'It's true. Maybe they used to be proud of me. But then my cousin Kerry came to live with us and all at once it was like my parents couldn't see me any more. All they could see was her. She was fourteen when she arrived, and I was ten, and I thought it was going to be great, you know. Like having an older
sister. But it didn't work out like that ...' I can't stop talking. I just can't stop.
Every time the plane bumps or jolts, another torrent of words pours randomly out of my mouth, like water gushing over a waterfall.
It's either talk or scream.
'... she was a swimming champion, and an everything champion, and I was just ... nothing in comparison ...'
'... photography course and I honestly thought it was going to change my life ...' '... eight stone three. But I was planning to go on a diet ...'
'I applied for every single job in the world. I was so desperate, I even applied to ...'
'... awful girl called Artemis. This new desk arrived the other day, and she just took it, even though I've got this really grotty little desk ...'
'... sometimes I water her stupid spider plant with orange juice, just to serve her right ...'
'... sweet girl Katie, who works in Personnel. We have this secret code where she comes in and says, "Can I go through some numbers with you, Emma?" and it really means "Shall we nip out to Starbucks ..."'
'... awful presents, and I have to pretend I like them ...'
'... coffee at work is the most disgusting stuff you've ever drunk, absolute poison ...'
'... put "Maths GCSE grade A" on my CV, when I really only got C. I know it was dishonest. I know I shouldn't have done it, but I so wanted to get the job ...'
What's happened to me? Normally there's a kind of filter which stops me blurting out everything I'm thinking; which keeps me in check.
But the filter's stopped working. Everything's piling out in a big, random stream, and I can't stop it.
'Sometimes I think I believe in God, because how else did we all get here? But then I think, yes but what about war and stuff ...'
'... wear G-strings because they don't give you VPL. But they'reso uncomfortable ...'
'... size eight, and I didn't know what to do, so I just said "Wow those are absolutely fantastic ..."' '... roasted peppers, my complete favourite food ...'
'... joined a book group, but I just couldn't get throughGreat Expectations . So I just skimmed the back and pretended I'd read it ...'
'... I gave him all his goldfish food, I honestly don't know what happened ...' '... just have tohearthat Carpenters song "Close to You" and I start crying ...'
'...reallywish I had bigger boobs. I mean, not Page 3 size, not completely enormous and stupid, but you know, bigger. Just to know what it's like ...'
'... perfect date would start off with champagne justappearing at the table, as if by magic ...'
'... I just cracked, I secretly bought this huge tub of Häagen-Dazs and scoffed the lot, and I never told Lissy ...'
I'm unaware of anything around us. The world has narrowed to me and this stranger, and my mouth, spewing out all my innermost thoughts and secrets.
I barely know what I'm saying any more. All I know is, it feels good. Is this what therapy is like?
'... name was Danny Nussbaum. Mum and Dad were downstairs watchingBen Hur , and I remember thinking, if this is what the world gets so excited about, then the world's mad ...'
'... lie on my side, because that way your cleavage looks bigger ...'

'He's wonderful. Connor's completely wonderful. I'm just so lucky. Everyone's always telling me how great he is. He's sweet, and he's good, and he's successful and everyone calls us the perfect couple ...'
'... I'd never tell anyone this in a million years. But sometimes I think he's almosttoo good-looking. A bit like one of those dolls? Like Ken. Like a blond Ken.'
And now I'm on the subject of Connor, I'm saying things I've never said to anyone. Things I never even realized were in my head.
'... gave him this lovely leather watch for Christmas, but he wears this orange digital thing because it can tell him the temperature in Poland or something stupid ...'
'... took me to all these jazz concerts and I pretended to enjoy them to be polite, so now he thinks I love jazz ...'

The funniest, predictable and wonderful book for every woman out there. The premise is that the woman lands a job, her first big job, blows it and on the plane ride home it begins to crash and she spills her life story to her seatmate... who comes back to haunt her throughout the book. It's nonstop drama that you can't stop reading, kinda like you can't stop looking at a train wreck that is about to happen. Great, easy, laugh out loud fun!

I have trouble watching other people embarrass themselves -- even in movies or books. I winced throughout Becky Bloomwood's adventures in the Shopaholic series, and I cringe every time I watch Meet the Parents. It just makes me uncomfortable knowing when someone's going to be humiliated.

In this book, after Emma Corrigan divulges all her secrets to what she thinks is a complete stranger, thus setting herself up for MONUMENTAL embarrassment.

All in all, though, I think I've enjoyed this book the most out of all the Kinsella novels I've read. Becky the shopaholic was amusing, but I had trouble connecting with her character (I just can't care that much about uncomfortable, expensive shoes), and I never really liked Samantha from The Undomestic Goddess. But Emma is more like an ordinary gal -- she wants nice stuff but is reasonable enough to know she can't afford new designer clothes; she's a good worker but still nips out for coffee and a chat with coworkers while on the clock; and she has both big and little secrets she keeps even from her best friend. She doesn't come across as daft (like Becky) or a bit arrogant (like Samantha). She's just like any one of us readers -- though we probably read more books than she does.

This was a hilarious and romantic book with a light-hearted British touch. Emma Corrigan reminds me in some ways of a young Bridget Jones in how she thinks, acts and feels. No matter how hard she tries and how close she comes to finding happiness and success on a personal and professional level, there is another anticipated disaster on its way. She pretends to love jazz, wearing g-strings and calling her boyfriend Connor a pet name, darling. Obviously one little lie builds upon another but it’s far better than facing reality. After enduring a traumatic plane ride and divulging all her insecurities and secrets to a complete stranger, many realizations happen and there’s no need for anymore skeletons in her closet, maybe just a Miu Miu pony bag.

What a fun book! Not only was this an engaging and intriguing read, but I found that, for once, a Sophie Kinsella heroine didn't annoy me by being stupid far too many times. Emma makes mistakes, as we all do, but she, overall, is really a smart character who catches on as quickly as I did (which isn't saying much, I guess! ;) ). I loved the relationship between her and Jack and the plot twists were wonderful. The ending goes a bit too fast for credibility, but it's okay--the reader is willing to go with it in this type of novel. On top of being a lot of fun, this book really does have me thinking about secrets and whether keeping them is a good or bad idea. I think this is my favorite Kinsella novel yet.

Outragouesly funny..It's so funny, that i couldn't resist laughing out loud while reading it. The story is very intelligently plotted, everything just flows through, and the lead character- Emma, is simply adorable and likeable.
Briefly, the story goes like this....
- She met a stranger (a guy) on the airplane. During the flight, there was an air turbulence, so the whole plane was very shaky and unstable..Emma thought that the plane was going to crash and blow her up to pieces, she started confessing all her dirty little secrets to a complete stranger- secrets like she is really a size 8, and not size 4; instead of weighing 118, her real weight is actually 128 pounds; in the office, she would use orange juice to water the plant of her colleague, whom she hates; the office coffee tastes horrible; etc, etc ..
She totally had no idea that the total stranger is the top boss aka founder of PantherCola Organisation, the company that she's working at (Well, she just started working there a year ago)..lol..
This is a very lovely book, and i adore it.
If your looking for something that could expand your lungs, and benefit your heart from good laughter, this is the one..:D

Not my absolutely favorite Sophie Kinsella book of all time, but it was very entertaining and you definitely find yourself rooting for the main characters. Kinsella does a great job with the "Cinderella story" concept, and it's really hard not to fall in love with Emma's love interest. The ending felt too rushed and lacked the complexity that might have made it feel more polished.

Emma Corrigan is a nothing-special kind of girl who “has this deep-down conviction that she’s not like everyone else, and there’s an amazingly exciting new life waiting for her just around the corner”, though no one else believes her. The story begins with Emma on her first-ever business trip to negotiate a merge. She fails miserably, and the additional stress makes her a little crazy. While on the plane ride home, the airplane experiences some major turbulence and Emma finds herself spilling all of her secrets to the stranger sitting next to her on the plane. In normal cases, this would be no big deal. She and this man would go their separate ways and never see each other again, and Emma’s secrets would still be, well, secret. This, however, is not a normal case. The stranger from the plane shows up at work the next morning – the “stranger” is her new boss. Things couldn’t possibly get worse… until they do.

Can You Keep a Secret? is the best book that I have read in a long time. I couldn’t put the book down and almost finished the entire thing in a single sitting. This book is great for anyone beginning a new relationship; it really demonstrates the importance of trust, even if that relationship is just a friendship. I highly recommend Can You Keep a Secret? and am positive that everyone that reads it will love it as much as I do.

Funniest book I've ever read! Sophie Kinsella wrote brilliantly. Definitely a book meant to read while traveling. The ending was the best part though, it was totally unexpected yet extremely cute at the same time. I read the ending like three times already, and it's only been two days since I bought the book. Emma is such an amazing character, ohh and so is Jack Harper. I never used to like the name Jack but I love it now because it reminds me of the character in the book!!What would you do if a total stranger knows all of your secrets..not to forget that you are going to meet the stranger again. The later you find out that he is going to be a crucial person in your life, and not to forget that your going to get attracted to him( since he's extremely cute!) Definitely a must read novel!!

Saw it from the library and figure may be I should get some brain candies. The story started out a little "too silly" for me but I was glad I kept going. It turns out to be a page turner, for it made me laught - not by it's coarse language - but just the silliness. If you are looking for a light read to lighten your day, I would recommend this book, just be patient and get through the first few chapters.
