Very Canadian, very 90s, very chick-lit, but in that special, Atwood kind of way.

I thought the book was entertaining and I enjoyed the characters, but I think the story itself needed some work. It spent too much time discussing each person's point of view so there wasn't much that actually happened.
It was worth a read anyway, though, and I am a big fan of Margaret Atwood; I just didn't think this was one of her best.

This was a good read, but took me awhile to get through. Worth reading, though.

The character development in this book is AMAZING. There are three main characters an one sort of ghost-like antagonist, all four of them fascinating and intricately described. From chapater to chapter there ere sometimes jumps between who we were learning the story from - one of the three main characters - all friends with one another. They all are given deep and interesting histories and personalities, and their personalities affect how they explain the present story. Very awesome book. I got a similar rush from this as I did from Atwood's other book, A Handmaid's Tale. However this rush was far deeper and more satisfying.

When you first start you are wondering what in the hell is going on, but then you are introduced to the three women who suffered because of gender stereotypes and the reality that they are based on.

Zenia is the archetypal femme fatale, and this story is about how three women in the modern world combat their dark roots. Atwood weaves a tale of overcoming the bad to embrace the good, despite the stupidity of men.

So far my favorite of Atwood's books. I really like the contrast between the 4 women characters, and would love to see this transferred to a film or play.

Everything was great about this book until the end. The ending was wrong. But maybe I should read it again as I can't remember why I didn't like it. It is a very Toronto-centred book, so it helps to know T.O.

A right good read. Probably more of a book for the ladies, this one.
