The 2nd in the loose trilogy of "The Giver" brings us to a much different world than that of Jonas'. I did enjoy this book. Lois Lowry has a gift for character developement. You become so invested in these people...as in The Giver, I was sad when it ended...wanted to know what happended next?? I wonder what Messenger will bring. Answers to questions left from her two previous novels? We'll see....

A companion to the book The Giver, i found this book very heart warming. The story takes place after the time of The Giver, in a time when the world fell and life found a new a crewel order. you not believe what happens to the girl that lives after loosing her mother. Her world that she knows is all a lie.

this was a sequel to The Giver.. and it definitely made me ponder life on some level at a young age.. so it must've been some sort of an impact.

Gathering Blue, the companion to The Giver, is a beautiful story about a girl named Kira. She lives in a harsh world, where most are bent on their own survival, no matter what the cost. Kira's physical set backs make her a target for other villagers, but the special power that she posses spares her.

Both touching and sad, this book explores human nature in its most raw form. At first you feel alien to this society, but as the story progresses one feels that this world isn't so far after all.
