I bought this yesterday and started reading it when I woke this morning - I then couldn't put it down and literally did nothing until I finished it. It is a beautiful, heart breaking, real and just perfect book - it is based around and narrated by Tessa who is a teenager with months left to live and her need to experience life before she dies.... sex, drugs, relationships, life and most importantly love. If there was one book that I could recommend anybody to read, then this would be it.

The story itself was interesting but the writing lacked in quality. Even though this is a story about a 16 year old girl dying of Leukemia who wants to accomplish a lit of 10 things to do before she dies, the writing did not permit for sympathy as much as I thought it would. Regardless, a very touching story and an okay read. I would not recommend this book.

Wow. Super book about death and wanting to live. Tessa is seventeen years old and dying of cancer. There is nothing else that can be done to save her. This story is of Tessa's last days as she completes her "to do list."A compelling novel by British author Jenny Downham. Keep the tissues handy...you're going to cry!

This is a touching book about a 16 year old English girl, Tessa, coping with her impending death from leukemia. She makes a list of things that she wants to do before she dies and, with the help of her best girl friend, proceeds to do most of them - have sex, drive a car, shop lift, etc. Unexpectedly she and the boy next door get acquainted, fall in love, and he stays with her to the end. The book is interesting as it details how family members, particularly Tessa's father and younger brother, Cal, deal with her dying. It is unrealistic in one respect. I think it highly unlikely that a 16 year old girl's parents, even under these extreme circumstances, would allow a boy to move into their house and sleep with their dying daughter. I am not sure what I would do if I were a parent faced with that situation.

I read this book shortly after losing a great friend to cancer. It is written brillantly aand right up to the last word I felt Tessa's joy and pain. Once I had finshed reading it my mind felt rested. Brilliant book and very well researched and written!!
This book was amazing. I have recently lost a friend and this book helped me to understand a little bit more. I felt like I identified with every character in the book and would reccommend it too anyone. Especially those that have recently lost someone!

Point blank, straight forward and very real...not infused with melodramatism but the characters pull the strings of your heart and make you appreciate even the smallest things in life so much more

This book was absolutely brill, it had me crying by the end, it is about a 16yr old girl dying of lukemia and how she goes thru her 'list' of things to do before she dies. It is all told from her eyes even @ the end, when shes falling unconcious there are gaps on the pages. This is already easily in my top 3. .x.

Even though this is a work of fiction, it has a real air of truth to it. I have to say in the beginning I didn't really like Tessa. As the story progresses her thoughts at dying so young and the effect on her friends and family make this a touching story. It deals with a difficult subject consideratly and is able to envoke tears without being overly sentimental. Tessa is not a virtuous child who accepts her doom gracefully but is instead angry and resentful at times...something which feels more realistic! I would recommend this to a friend

I liked this book. I thought it was a book that made you think quite a bit. The storyline was good but also really sad. Especially the ending when she got all confused, that was heartbreaking. A good book but so sad

Tessa is a cancer patient, whom the doctors could no longer find a cure. Before she breathe her last, she wrote up a list of things to do (eg. sex, break the law, drugs etc).

The novel was written with a fluent flow, completely in a teenager's perspective. I finished it in a couple of hours, crying straight in the last 3 hours.

So prepare loads of tissues, ladies

I devoured this book in two days. It called to me. Beckoned me across the room and begged me to pick it up and finish what I'd started. If I hadn't needed to eat and sleep, I'd have finished it in mere hours. It was that vital to keep going.

Tessa Scott keeps going, too. She keeps writing on the wall and adding to the list of things she wants to do before she dies. Tess's life is being driven from her by leukemia before she herself can even drive a car. It's not fair. She wants a boyfriend. She wants normal.

Tessa pushes. She pushes against the people who want to be near her. She pushes against the rules she's been forced to follow throughout her brief life. She pushes against death.

She keeps breathing. In and out. It's simple. Except, it's not that simple.

This book gives a promise. This book keeps its promise. This book is real. It is deep and winding and important. It is beautiful and strong and eloquent and everlasting. It is just beautiful.
