Very informative. It tells how we take numerical information for granted, how the media and interest groups manipulate us with polls, surveys, averages...many types of analytical data. I definitely recommend this book for everyone. EVERYONE.

HOW TO LIE WITH STATISTICS shows laymen the proper and improper ways to draw samples, make conclusions based on samples and to illustrate the conclusions made. When you know the wrong way to do things, you can catch your opponents when they accidentally or otherwise misuse numbers to support their arguments, and that may help you to win yours. The drawings look a little amateurish these days, but the concepts are correct, the paragraphs are short and the book is still worth reading.

Very enjoyable - I love reading things from the 50s/60s. Mostly refers to statistics as used in advertising though - not a book on how to fudge the results of your science thesis!

insightful as to how almost every statistic you see anywhere has bias and/or is just flat out wrong. It was written in 1954 and besides the cost basis of its examples, the book is still relevant
