I got so fed up with the stupid random acts of heroism that didn't make any sense to the new age person that I just put it down and stopped reading it. I'll pick it back up when my brain can handle more stupidity. Total Monty Python.

I was actually captivated by this poem! The critics were right--Seamus Heaney not only beautifully translated a masterpiece, but he also created his own original masterpiece. I also love the descriptive language and creative alliterations. Despite the fact that I think Beowulf's extermination of Grendel was described so quickly and with a lack of detail. Other than that, I LOVED.

Read it too many times...but this version by far is the most readable. I actually mildly enjoyed this version, which is saying something. Since it was the fourth time I read Beowulf, and didn't enjoy it the first three times

Don't know if I'll ever be able to finish this book. Some love it...I don't.
