I read this book back in high school, for a sociology class. I have never read a book before, or since, that so thoroughly depressed me as this book. A sad commentary on human nature. I won't read this again. I don't think I could if I wanted to.

If I could give this book 0 stars I would. This was a required read for high school, and the worst book I have ever had to bare through.

If you think that all children are little angels then this book will surely shock you. Absolutely fantastic and disturbing at the same time, this book brings with it the idea that all humans, even children, are inherently evil. When a group of young boys are stranded on an island and left to their own devices- with no society to govern their actions and punish their wrongdoings, the true nature of man (according to Golding, and to which I disagree) is shown- and its pure evil!
