This book is more of an adventure than a mystery; yet, unlike most of Poirot's cases it is fast paced from the beginning.

How if one world, all the murders committed in one day, had been planned by only four man and one their truthful assistant. The thrill Poirot gave was very very remarkable.

I read the entire Agatha Christie's collection as a teenager. I remember them as being very entertaining, and badly translated into Portuguese. And no, I did not have anything better to do at the time (or so I thought). Anyway, I loved the suspense, the middle-upper class settings , and a lot of the characters - not necessarily the detectives.

The best of hercule poirot's series I have ever read.. the little grey cells have been made to work very efficiently as he faces a very dangerous crime gang in operation constitute 4 top guys called the Big Four

A rather different style - more of a thriller chasing an international gang than a classic Poirot whodunnit, and it is rather episodic or periodic in nature. The format rather grew on me, but I still wouldn't go for it over the more familiar Poirot.

A fast paced mystery pitting Hercule Poirot against a mysterious international group almost as clever as the great man himself. Broken down into a series of mini-mysteries Poirot works his way closer to his adversaries and leaves you doubting every new character as they come along. Great stuff

Only read this novel a few times when I was a student, just remember this was an exciting case. Not an exciting reading this time, too many individual cases here, but still a special Poirot story full of action and "motion picture" descriptions.

This was a great classic Poirot novel with the added excitement of a James Bond movie. The villains are striving for world domination, #4 is a master of disguise and they have cool gadgets like a cigarette that shoots poison darts. Very cool, very dramatic. Adds some excitement to a very long series of Poirot novels.

This was a very different type of Poirot book. It was good, but different. Usually I strive to figure out the criminal (unsuccessfully), but in this case the criminals are known and it is jus thow they are to be caught...

The least likely of all the Christie books I've read; why would this powerful evil organization play dress up and fool Poirot all over England? Just doesn't wash for me...

What started out as a series of short-stories is developed into an international thriller and thus one of the most exciting Poirot novels.

This was a bit of a let down, especially since I expect more from classic Christie. Though it pre-dates James Bond, the feel is very much like Christie is trying for such a feel, and it's just not her specialty. Combine that awkwardness with a penny-dreadful atmosphere and a series of awful cliches, making this book definitely one of her worst.
