Very good, as usual, clancy brings us twists, great storys, amazing characters, technical detail up the wazoo, all with his own special touch.

Another of the Jack Ryan series, he is now rising up the ladder at the CIA. In this story, there is a high ranking CIA spy in the Kremlin who needs rescuing, this is also the book that introduces the Field Op Clark.Story is dated somewhat by the inclusion of a "Star Was" and Afghanistan (RussianInvasion) secondary plot. Well this was written back in 1988. Well written and a great read as always

Classic spy thriller weaving the Russian-U.S. "missile defense" race with the Russian invasion of Afghanistan. The Russian characters are as much fun, or moreso, than the Americans.

This is one of the best in the jack ryan series, too bad the cold war is over and they'll never make the movie. Excellent spy novel filled with intrigue and clandestine dealings. It's too bad they will never turn this on into a movie until Russia starts a war with us.
