It's a good story, and you have to appreciate the diligent research that goes into a novel like this one. For me, though, all the military detail was distracting from the plot at times. It's so chock-full that plot and character development are spread out very thin. Some of the characters were very interesting, but also had so much more potential. However, I do agree that it is a modern classic. For America. I bet Russians hate this book, if they've read it.

Its simply a Novel wherein Americans rule again. Written with an air and assumption that "All American good, All soviet bad/obsolete". All soviet equipments mentioned in this novel is said to be copies of superior US makes. Though the story is fast with lottsa action, i didnt like the biased attitde with which the novel was written. Also this Guy, Mr Ryan made me puke. A must read for a patriotic American, for others there are better books available.
