Jack Ryan is called out of retirement to become National Security Advisor, and has to deal with a financial meltdown and a Japanese invasion on a Pacific island.Wouldnt recommend this as a good place to start reading Clancy novels as it is one long book and very involved, however it is very fast paced and with an ending to shock. Pre-empting 9/11 by 13 years!!

Love this book! I read this probably 15 years ago and still have vivid images of it in my mind. My all-time Clancy fave!

Provides an interesting look at what a moden World War would have been in a pre-9/11 environment. Then ends with a scenario shockingly close to what brought us into today's world.

I have read almost all of the Jack Ryan series from Clancy. This one is, by far, my favorite.

I don't know if it's okay to say this, but "Debt of Honor" is the book that de-virginized me to Jack Ryan. My husband loved books by Tom Clancy, and I had read a few pages here and there, but this was my first one - and what a great one it is! The thought that Clancy pours into his books, and his understanding the minds of those who would do harm to our country, would be a great thing for our political leaders to read about. I truly enjoyed this - the first of my nights with Jack Ryan!
