Truly, to me, the pinnacle of the horror in short form. The Books of Blood are what won me over and I've craved Clive Barker ever since. I adore Lovecraft and sincerely like King's early shorts, but this series really did it for me.

probably some of the grossest, most twisted, yet oddly intriguing stuff i have ever read. i'm not too keen on the homosexual themes or content, but there are some very well written short stories in here. it is definitely not for the faint of heart or for anyone who is not a mature reader and can't handle such themes. some of the best in this genre.

It seemed like it took me forever to get through this book, but I'm glad that I stuck with it to the end. This would make a good horror anthology for people who don't normally read horror fiction: Clive Barker's imagination and grasp of pacing and suspense make the entire genre look good. He somehow manages to make each story unique both in the larger scope of horror and in relation to the other stories in the book, and the result is refreshing and jarring.

Some of the best horror writing ever. These books made me a huge Clive Barker fan.
