Before reading this book, I would recommend reading, Debt of Honor. Otherwise, if you are a jack Ryan fan, you might wonder, when and how, he became President of the USA. The book has a lot of the same characters, so, it is easy to feel at home. Unfortunately, I read a paperback version. The print is smaller, and I had to stay focused in on who was doing what to whom. It is not one of my favorite Jack Ryan adventures.

One of the later Clancy books. By this point, Clancy was famous enough that he could write whatever he wanted and his editors could not refuse his often-crass work.A real shame since early Clancy novels were good. This one was crap!

This book made me want to read more Clancy novels. Prior to this read,I typicaly avoided his thick government spy thrillers. But they are thrillers!

I found this book rather upsetting for it's focus of flashy gadgets "deux ex machina" style.
