Very interesting fictitious read about Jack Reacher's interaction with the Secret Service. Brings up missions from the first book but can be a standalone book on its own. Don't need to have read the books in a series to read this one.

This is the first Reacher series book I read. My daughter Hannah thought I might like the series and it is now my favorite escapist reading. My only concern is that I will catch up with the author and have to begin waiting for the next book! The series fulfills my desire for a relatively progressive, full tilt hero without frills. Unlike real life, the hero always defeats the bad guys, while making philosophical reflections along the way (including, in one book, a quote from one of my college professors, Herbert Marcuse!). There is also a mystery to go along with the basic story.

Jack an interesting character who gets pulled out of obscurity to protect the vice president.
