The Harry Potter series is a collection that I will never forget. I started reading the first book when I was twelve, and anticipated each book after that eagerly. Sometimes it felt like I was just waiting -forever- for the next one to come out, and then I would read it in two or three days. I enjoyed each and every book, and I will probably keep on collecting new copies and paraphernalia for years to come. I would recommend this series to anyone 12 or older.

There is so much more to these books than a simple adventure story. Rowling has some of the best character development that I have ever seen. The themes and lessons interwined with adventure and mystery allow for the reader to become so attatched to the characters. Once I even think too much about the series I get an itch and have to re-read them all searching for more hidden meanings and enjoying the same things even after reading them so many times.

This series is NOT just for kids. I could not put any single book down! These are EXCELLENT!!! In book one, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone", Harry is eleven-years-old. With each new book, he ages one year and so do the adventures. Rowling's storytelling talent is incredible! Twelve of ten stars! Highly recommend!

I felt the quality of writing declined from the fourth book and got steadily worse. The first 3 books were good - but after that they were just ordinary. The plot was too predictable and was repeated in all the books. I was enthralled after reading the first 3 books and was totally obsessed with the series for a while, but after the 4th book came out I found myself enjoying them less and less. As well as being repetitive they felt very rushed, as if the writer hadn't allowed herself enough time to write the book to the fullest of her abilities.

I started reading Harry Potter when I was 10 and a half,and I instatnly fell in love with them and the characters.It was the first book that actually made me love reading and want to do it all the time.I grew up with Harry,Ron,and Hermione.They were like the friends I never had.Always having adventures.Doing magic.Getting into trouble.The perfect trio.J.K.Rowling is an amazing author who grips you from every angle imagineable.Her wit and humor is enjoyable to read,and the way she portrays her characters ,makes you intstantly fall in love with them,even if they are the bad guy.Their flaws make you love them all the more and she tugs at your heart strings to the point were you just want to break down cry.The books engulf you and take you there.Its a magic carpet,just without all the flying. Harry Potter will always have a place in my heart.

After hearing she was publishing the final book, I read 1-6 however many months before it came out, and then read 7.I liked them fine, I'd say. The whole idea, as well as plots, themes, and characters were really well developed and interesting. The magical world she created and formed was great. But the reason these books never made my list of favorites was because the writing really wasn't anything special. J.K Rowling's voice is just... boring to me and doesn't draw me in nearly as much as it should.Good idea, mediocre writing.And I wouldn't read them again...

not very impressive. not overly original as has thousands of common manifestations that can be traced to dozens of past stories without effort. the first three were probably the best, after which it dwindled into a seemingly flaked off quality in which she seemed in a hurry, especially towards the last few books which seemed full of teen angst as a replacement for obvious filler. in conclusion, not worth the hype,the attention,nor the millions she scooped up whilst more imaginative and original writers are forced into her shadow. what a bunch of trash, but not as bad as the sawdust filled trash known as Twilight. it really proves my point on the downfall of culture. Poor at best.

I really was surprised when I started to read these books and found out they really weren't written for children. I know Rowling had that in mind, but the way the characters are fully developed and the way the story continually progresses into a dark nature made me personally believe she wrote these for kids to begin with then found a wider audience as each book progressed. Wonderfully done.

It's a great series. The character development is very relate able so that anyone can really jump in, relate, and feel what the characters feel. The main character, Harry Potter, was the character I most clearly identified with and he's a great main character for that reason. He isn't perfect, not the best at everything, but he's a good kid. Still, as his life goes on he continually has to deal with troubles that are far beyond his understanding and really haven't much to do with and he does that with great character and loyalty. Great books! Great stories! Great characters!

Each time that a harry potter book was released, I read it, then read all the books written previously, then read the new book again. I never got tired of reading them.What I love the most is what JK Rowling said that she loved in books as a child. That is, that when a character eats, you can teste the food too. (That was a paraphrase, obviously.)I love the character development. I really admire the fact that each character is much more complex than the characters in so many children's books. The very thing that made the Christian right ban the books (Harry's dark side) is exactly why I love them.These books fit the classic Hero's journey description of Joseph Campbell. Most importantly, they ask the reader to look at life choices which are not cheap or easy, something that is countercultural in many ways. They tackle racism and the cult of the self and even look at both sides of "the greater good".They are on my theoretical top shelf of my reading library.

Love to read the Harry Potter Series over and over again because I love to become a part of the world JK Rowling has created with such attention to detail. The strength of the series for me is the way in which all 7 books are connected by so many intricate details. I appreciate the depth of the plot, and the skill of the writing, when I read Book 7 and am able to then appreciate something new about Book 1. Possibly my favorite part of the series is the understated wit with which it is written--something that will never translate successfully into the films.

I read these during the first few weeks after I got home from the hospital. Since my daughter was born, I have become a very slow reader, but in those days, when I had little to do during the day but read, watch movies, and go to physical therapy, I plowed through these books in a couple of days each. They are definitely modern classics of young adult fiction. They start out as kid's books and evolve to address very mature, adult themes. Goblet of Fire is the best, but they are all excellent.

OMG!! first, all seven have been released!! Second, all the books are SO PERFECT!! They're the best thing ever, I wish I could have amnesia just so I could read them again for the first time, feel the excitment again!! WOW! If anybody has NOT read them yet, RUN to the closest bookstore and grab all seven now!! You'll appreciate this advice once you've read them! I mean I've read each like a HUNDRED time and still enjoy them.. Harry Potter's just a part of me..

What can you say? Haha. Everyone loves Harry Potter, and that includes me too! I love it how JK Rowling has developed her books, her characters and her wonderful magic world. I have read the Harry Potter series over and over and each time I finish, I feel more and more jealous of such an amazing existense doesn't take place in the real world. I am not a fan of the movies though. Just the books. And I really do hope JK Rowling would write new novels and keep her fan base going.

I think the first book was one of the best. The second book get's interesting but wastes too much time with Harry whining. Book three leads to far too much whining on Harry's part and I wished that he just grew more courage from the get-go. I though the Goblet of Fire was the best of all. Book 6 and 7 are least memorable because they turned a corner and went onto other themes that reached beyond the adolescent interest. Her purpose as an author changed and I liked the themes of the first 3-5 books better than the last two.

I did enjoy reading this series but I will say they are possessing of your life. Book 6 ended tragically for me and had a hard time getting going on 7 because of the tragedy but gritted my teeth and made it through another 700 or so pages to the end. Make sure you have a little extra time because when you start the series you really want to go all the way and some need a support group when the series is finally over.

every budy must read them these is an addicting book once you estarted reading them you just cant stop... they are the best.. when you are reading them you can fill the magic you fill you are ther you are part of the history of the book you with a little of imagination once you are reading you can play the movie in your head you can imaginate te scene you can fiel you are there j.k rowling is the best wrighter in the houl world how come any body can write such an amazing book with all that imagination and diversity it is just perffect those 7 books are the besto ones ive ever read i have read them all and i have repeat them all, some times they are s reall y had thaought they maight be true i have drem with them and i have wish tey never end i think j.k should write some others i don know like about his life after all... about his children in school about his future i think she could write at list one more, i have the hole colection and i think every body must have it and read it, the are wonderfull!!! the best!!!

This is intended for the entire series. I found them curious enough as an adult to read them all in succession. Initially, and I must admit to some sustainment, the novels assisted me in recalling the magic of my youth that I either never knew or did now and had forgotten. Together they still equaled a youthtime, which we all have that substitutes the imaginary for either the reality we do not wish to try and understand; do not understand; or can take only in small doses because it so controlled by the outside world of 'teachers /controllers' in our lives. Am I glad I read the series. Yes, absolutely and they will always have a place on my bookshelf along with the Hardy Boys, Enid Blyton, and Clan of the Cave Bear. They are all a much different fiction than contemporary adult/western novels.

Without a doubt great literature! Haha, HP is a great book, a new world, very much like LOTR but yet so unique. JKR is really a great writer, and although the whole series has come to an end, it will come alive every time you open the books. Even if you read them a hundred times, you feel yourself gasping at the turns in the plot and...well just everything. If you haven't read HP you are missing out!

Much criticism and mocking has been given to the Harry Potter series over the years, but when it comes down to it, there are a few simple facts. One, J.K Rowling can WRITE! She has woven this story together magnificantly, and when you read it, it's like you're there in the story itself. And two, the story she has made is absolutely fantastic and (in my opinion) original. This a great series, and it was great fun to have been able to be caught in the whirlwind of going to the bookstores early on the day of the release of another book.

I put off getting into the whole Harry Potter fad thinking that it was just for kids....I was wrong. I adored the whole series and every character in them. I think the movies do them justice on the most part, but like any book made to movie things are left out because of time. Books are always better. Loved every single book of the series. Didn't think I would, but a great read! I honestly thought that I wouldn't enjoy these books, but was pleasantly surprised when I found myself being unable to put the books down. Great series.
