All of the books I've read by John Saul, I just couldn't put down. They are scary & a little weird, though, so I wouldn't read it you are easily disturbed. Might give you nightmares.

I had really really low expectations for this book. In the horror community, John Saul isn't usually regarded very highly, and the books of his I read a few years back didn't impress me much. But this book was fantastic. It was one of the few horror books I've read that was genuinely creepy. It really sinks into you, and is perhaps one of the best horror novels I've read in the the past few years. This book was a John Saul trial run for me, and now I'm a confirmed fan.
