My daughter read this book in school and would tell me about it as she read. I hated everything my daughter told me about it. If the teacher hadn't assigned it, I don't think my daughter would have read it either.

I loved this story. Very profound story. Very thought provoking. Great book for discussion. The story can be interpreted in different ways. Great book for discussion.

A girlfriend of my dad recommended this to me when I was 13. Absolutely loved it and plan on reading it again, along with the rest of the connected books.

I finished this over a week ago and unfortunately I have forgotten pretty much everything I wanted to say about it. I'll just say that it was everything I love in my dystopia science fiction and leave it at that. The details of life in the Community were perfect and creepy (I especially like the line about young children having buttons on the back of their jackets to encourage interdependency) and having the novel narrated by a child did much more than simply allow young readers to relate to him. Jonas's innocence nearly mimicked the reader's own ignorance for the first half the book. The difference, however, is that we can quickly deduce what is really going on behind the scenes and the pretty words where Jonas isn't capable of even suspecting. All in all, I'm glad this was a purchase rather than a borrow and I'm likely to come back to this story again. Great book.
