I am currently reading this book. Although I've enjoyed the first few chapters, I'm still very weary and hesitant to continue. I'm still feeling the disappointment of the fourth book and I hate the thought that I'm going to waste my time with this series.

I don't have the urge to read like I did the first three books, but I'm not having to force myself through this one (which is good). I still plan to catch up before the new book is released in October, so the I still plan on finishing this book within the next week.

I'm hoping this book will have a nice dose of Alcide and Weres and shifter communities. But the vampires are still number one, of course!

Disappointed that the Sookie Stackhouse series is really moving away from the vampires and more towards shifters. The book also had a lot dull sections in it where it seemed like it was "filler" for the book. It added no purpose to the story whatsoever. This is my least favorite out of all of the series thus far. I am hoping the last 4 get better.

 Oooooo!!!!!

This one WAS creepy! REALLY! And to be honest, just a touch sad. And scary. AND WAY weirder than the first four!!!!

This one kept me on the edge of my seat AND slapping my head in the end.

And if this is any indication to where the books are going, I have a feeling I will be doing that A LOT in the future while reading them!

I wish I could write better reviews for these, but that would give so much of it away and I just can't do that. These are best read with NO idea what is going to happen.

I enjoyed this book but not quite as much as the others. It followed the same pattern as previous books of building up to the climax for the first 80% of the book, giving you the "reveal" and then the last 10% of the book wrapping things up and setting up the next book. What I didn't like as much is that the reveals were somewhat anti-climactic. It felt like the whole book was a back story setting up future books rather than a solid book to itself. I certainly wouldn't skip this book but I didn't think it was quite as good as the others.

Great Sookie book, so far I liked this one the best although the ending was just OK...How many men will Sookie get to choose from? I think the romantic interests are getting a little too much and she will end up like Jason if new men keep showing up...I say stick with Vampire Bill.

Hard to put down! A great mystery...I was surprised by the identity of the sniper...didn't see that one coming! And it was interesting to be brought into the world of Were-politics! I am curious to see how Jason adjusts to his new lifestyle! And hoping to see more of Quinn...a Were-tiger is intriguing!

This book irritated me. I enjoy a good supernatural detective, and vampires and werewolves and psychics and ghosts can be fun in fiction. But ffs, does every bloody eligible and ineligible male of whatever species have to fall for the heroine? Get a grip. This blows all suspension of disbelief out of the water.

There are some interesting and clever ideas here, such as the werewolf and vampire social structures. But the outright ridiculous MarySue-ism ruined it for me.

Sookie has noticed changes in her brother. If it was uncertain before, its curtain now. Jason would never be the same again. At least not at the full moon. Jason had been bitten by a shapeshifter, a werepanther, and now at every full moon he would change into a werepanther, well a half-man half-panther. Jason seemed to be fitting into the werepanther community at Hotshot quite well. That is until a sniper appears.

A sniper is targeting the shapeshifters of Bon Temps, and some of them seen to think Jason may be the shooter. If Sookie can't find the truth before the next full moon the shifters may take matters into there own hands. Will Sookie loose Jason, the only family she has left?

But that's just the beginning of Sookie's problems. There is yet another attempt on Sookie's life, well several attempts to be accurate. The ex-boyfriend to deal with, a number of suitors to contend with, a fire, a beating, a friend in need, a fight to the death, and supernatural politics that Sookie somehow got dragged into.

Another intriguing fast paced story that is impossible to put down. A great mystery that will keep you guessing till the last page. A very enjoyable read.

Very good but not my favorite. Definitely loving all the plot twists. I am gonna go crazy when I run out of books and have to wait for the next to come out.

"Did we have sex?" he asked directly.
For about two minutes, this might actually be fun. "Eric," I said, "we had sex in every position I could imagine, and some I couldn’t. We had sex in every room in my house, and we had sex outdoors. You told me it was the best you’d ever had." (At the time he couldn’t recall all the sex he’d ever had. But he’d paid me a compliment.) "Too bad you can’t remember it," I concluded with a modest smile.
Eric looked like I’d hit him in the forehead with a mallet. For all of thirty seconds his reaction was completely gratifying."

This is definitely not my favorite out of the collection. Getting deeper into the Were culture is not my idea of fun. I don't know what's worse.. Shreveport Packleader Competition or the Hotshot Community. Alcide's attitude is infuriating and Bill is back to being annoying. I am not a fan of Calvin Norris and I wish Sookie would just stay the hell away from him cause that is a road I do NOT want to see this series go down. Charles starts off being an interesting character, then slowly blends to the background, only to resurface in the last chapter of the book with a bit over the top twist with this extremely complicated and unlikely plan that magically fell into place perfectly. Perhaps it was the lack of Eric in this book after being spoiled with a whole book of Sookie and Eric action. I don't know, but I had to read this one to get to the next one and so do you.

Poor Sookie- she's got a lot to deal with. Firstly, her brother is going through some, uh, changes... then someone tries to burn down her house- with her in it, then her friend/boss Sam gets shot. We get more insight into the supernatural world surrounding Sookie, which makes things a little muddled and overly complicated at times, but Sookie's choice of no less than six beaux in this one will have you scratching your head and grinning!

I really enjoyed this whole series. I blew through all the books over the holidays. In each book, Harris would sometimes veer off with her characters but in a future book they would tie back in. I wish that she would have kept some of the story lines to a minimum and focused more on the main characters but at the same time, I rushed to read the next book to see how they all tied in. Now I have to wait for her to write the next one!

I liked it. She keeps me interested, and the longer the series, the more impressive that is. I enjoyed the way Harris knows just when to switch gears in order to keep the readers on their toes. The previous books dealt mainly with the vampires of her universe, but this one was an interesting look of her take on werewolves, and it's very refreshing. So far, the only thing that throws me a little about Sookie is that she is wanted by most males she comes across, and on top of that, either sleeps or seriously considers sleeping with most males she comes across. It would be nice to have a heroine that not absolutely everyone is in love with.

This volume kinda....confused me. But I still liked it quite a bit. The good ol' boy, Alcide, sorta gets all pushy and aggresive. I absolutely love Eric's memory loss and Sookie's refusal to tell him what happened in the fourth book. Sookie seems to be bulding a long line of male followers as the books continue. But all those male choices led to some pretty interesting self evaluation and morals. All in all a pretty good book but not my favorite out the the Sookie series.

This is the next book in the Sookie Stackhouse series and it is just as enjoyable as the last books have been. It had all the elements included in this book to make it just a good quick-easy and enjoyable read. Sookie is a girl that you can really step into her shoes and really feel like you are a part of her life and in her place. And even at times you want to be in her place. It was a fun book to read and I really enjoyed it.

This is the fifth installment of the Sookie Stackhouse series and trust me; it is probably one of the best in the series so far for me. The story picks up from what Charlaine left off in the previous book. Jason successfully incorporates his new life as a two-natured werepather. Just when everything seems to be going fine, shootings begins in the area and unknown to the police, all the victims are shape shifters. Sookie has to take the matter in her hands when her friend Calvin Norris from Hotshot and her boss Sam both get shot, and her brother becomes a suspect among the shape shifter community as he was turned against his will.

As a favor, Eric lends one of his bartenders Charles Twinning to Sam while he recovers from the accident. After the issue with the bar is settled, Sookie finds herself in another series of troubles before making any progress of clearing her brother’s name.

Colonel Flood, the pack master of Shreveport, has passed away and Alcide gets her involved into the werewolves politics as his dad is bidding on becoming the new leader. On the other hand, private detectives sent by Debbie’s family have come to Bon Temps to investigate her disappearance and Sookie is on top of their list of people to visit. However, the worst of all is that Sookie’s house gets burnt down in the middle of the night and she barely manages to escape with the help of Claudine and Charles.

And to be even more unlucky, Sookie becomes a victim of the shooting but fortunately, she is only badly hurt. She has to put everything on hold except from helping Tara, with the assistance of Eric-Tara’s been passed around two vampires and been abused by her vampire lovers. When she recovers, she and Sam set off to investigate and they finally find out who’s been shooting the shifters in the area. However, there is an extra twist to the story. Though the shooter is caught, the assassin who’s been trying to kill Sookie is still around and Sookie comes face-to-face with him. With the help of the gang at Merlotte, Sookie is saved.

The multiple storylines going at the same time makes it an enjoyable read. Charlaine also answers some of the questions I have from previous books. For example, back in book 1, we know Eric stacked Long Shadow. In human sense, if you kill somebody, you have to face the consequences. In this book, we know what price Eric has to pay for that. We also know a bit more about Tara-she’s been put in the background in previous books. Charlaine also introduces some new characters such as Claude (Claudine’s brother); Quinn and we also get to know more about the politics of the werewolves community. Overall, it has a good mix of all supernatural creatures in Sookie’s world, not just vampires. There are many surprises in the story. For example, the way that the story is laid out, the sniper and the one who burnt down Sookie’s house both turned out to be people that you would never have guessed.

Now, let me move on to Sookie’s love life and she is indeed not short of opportunities and let me elaborate each potential one.

Alcide asks her to go and live with him in the beginning of the story which I am quite happy about. I do think Alcide is a suitable guy for him. However, he gets Sookie involved in the pack master contest where his father is also a candidate, as he hopes to use her ability to increase the chance for his dad to win, which did not turn out the way he preferred. I think in the end he kind of “blames her” which is not nice.

Sam still cares about Sookie as always. And since he gets shot in this book which makes him more vulnerable and they even kiss in the book. However, dating your boss is not a very good idea!!!

Calvin Norris, another guy who is not well in this book, is still very much interested in Sookie but his reason, I think is a bit weird. It seems all he wants is to have babies with her to “improve” the gene pool for his community-that just sounds a bit odd.

Quinn, a new shapeshifter introduced in this book shares a special moment with Sookie during the pack master contest. There is some kind of attraction between the two and we will see what will happen in the next book.

Bill is still the same apart from having a new girlfriend. And he brings her into Merlotte a couple of times-that sounds like showing off for me. It seems he still has feelings for her and refuses to move on. However, he cannot undo the damage he caused. He still wants to be there as part of Sookie’s life and that’s just annoying.

Eric has returned back to himself but I was really surprised that Sookie just spills the beans!! She told him “everything” of the time he was under the curse, including the fact that he has said he would give up everything to be with Sookie!! Well, this is one of the moments I would love to see on the TV series-just to see Eric’s face!! Eric is very confused in this book and he’s been giving wrong signals. On one hand, he does care about her but on the other hand, his pride makes him do the opposite.

Well, so far, no one in particular stands a good chance. We just have to see what the next book unfolds.

Lastly, but not the least, Charlaine put in a lot of humor in the story and let me give a few examples:

• Claude and Claudine and Dixon and Dixie as the names of the twin brother and sister
• In page 114, you will see the title of the book being used
• Charles, the ex-pirate vampire (with an eye patch) somehow reminds me of Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of Caribbean
• We are introduced to Claude, Claudine’s brother. Sookie describes him as having fair feature with surgically altered eyes so that they are no longer pointed. Somehow he reminds me of the “elves”
• The whole chapter of Eric visiting Sookie is her flat and their encounter with Mickey, Tara’s abusive vampire lover is worth a second read. There are many funny comments and moments in this chapter (such as Eric’s outfit, Eric speaking of Americanism, Sookie’s fantasy) and I could not stop myself from laughing.
