This book in the series was the most predictable for me out of all of them so far. I figured out the ending about a quarter of the way through. The books are starting to get a bit too far-fetched for me now. Another dimension?! What the ... ?!! I wish more of the books were set in Bon Temps with the original characters, instead of introducing new characters every book. The only thing that can save the series for me now is a whole book dedicated to Eric! I keep reading, living in anticipation of Eric's next appearance on my page! Please Charlaine Harris, forget about Sookie and write a whole series about Eric! ♥

So far this is my favorite book in the series. It's more fast pace. There are still plot twists and turns. There just isn't too many you get confused/distracted (aka too many enemy forces in one book). Overall, I really love Charlaine Harris' writing style. It's very natural and her characters are all so different but not ridiculous.

Not as thrilled with this one as some of the other in the collection. Partly because I am a huge eric fan and this does not include alot about him. Also we dont delve as much into the emotional sookie. When I got done reading felt she is somehow losing a sense of herself or maybe I am just losing a sense of her. No huge revelations in this book that are at all suprising maybe one but not all that interesting of one.

I had to borrow this from the library and intend on buying the paperback version to add to the series. Don't want to repeat myself but I love this series! If you haven't watched True Blood yet, don't! It hardly resembles the books and some of the characters have been changed or added.

okay, the best book of the series since the fourth one. still sad that once again she wasnt at bon temps (I miss sam lol), but it was still great. Cool that we learned more about Pam who is actually quite funny. Glad that Barry was back. Quinn is great, but I dont know, I still prefer Eric (and Sam lol). The big coup at the end was extremely cool and I hope they includes this in the show. its not the greatest book series ever, but you get addicted and you just want to know what will happended.(38)

This is one of my favorites in the collection. All kinda of crazy things happen when Sookie is escorted with the Louisiana vamps to the Vampire Summit in Rhodes. So many blood suckers in one place, what better opportunity for the Fellowship to strike. So much happens in this one little book you can't put it down.

Only 3.5 stars because this series seems to be spinning further out of control. I'm beginning to wonder if she has a grand scheme, like the Potter books, or if she is just writing as she goes. Don't get me wrong, the book is amusing and kind of keeps you guessing. Harris consistently explores the theme of friendships made and honored, in spite of, or because of the abnormalities they share. She also develops the characters, and I have enjoyed seeing her relationships with others develop and grow. Her struggle to maintain humanity, in the midst of chaos and murder, of which she has committed a couple, is pretty dead on (Haha). When a vampire, human, supe, or other entitity threatens her life, her degree of acceptance of what is right or wrong changes.

Enjoy the book, and lick your chops in anticipation of the next installment:
Will Eric and Sookie become a romantic couple
Can Bill win Sookie's heart again.
Will Sookie and Jason forgive and forget? Will Sookie continue transforming from human to supe? I guess we will need to wait and see.

This book was...mah. It had it's moments, that mainly had to do with Eric and/or Quinn. Bill seems to be pushed to the side lines, which works for me cause I never liked him. I think you really get to see how much Sookie cares for Eric in this one, even if she doesn't want to admit it. This book was kinda too terroristy for me, a little too much politics and not enough adventure theme. I was super glad to see Barry back, I really enoughed him character in Living Dead In Dallas. This book definitely helped in uncovering more of the vampire world and rules that Sookie has found herself in the midst of. This book gives the reader a better grasp at what kind of creatures Sookie is dealing with.

 Well.
I do not even know how to put into words how I feel about this book. Its left with such mixed emotions.

I decided after I read the first one that I would not leave detailed reviews of the books as (I feel)that would spoil them for others and I REALLY dislike that when it happens to me. But with this one, I was struck by so many things I wanted to share so much of it. And have realized that I cannot. It would just ruin it. But I can say one thing; I was struck over and over at how intolerance breeds hate. And I wonder...I mean REALLY WONDER how many people are TRULY aware of this??!!

I was tempted to leave a quote from the end of the book that I found to be so prevalent, but even that would ruin the story and given things away.
If you choose to only read one "Sookie" book, this should be the one!!

This novel is based just after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, which is where the vampire Queen of Lousiana Sophie-Anne resided, but now her powerfull kingdom is in ruin and not only that she is being blamed for her husbands (the King of Arkansas) death. This is when Sookie comes in, as Sophie-Anne and her cohorts manipulate Sookie's power for their own gain, whilst the Fellowship of the Sun have big plans ahead of them to destroy the upcoming vampire summit and everyone with it! Great read, can't wait for the next installment!

Probably my least favorite of the Sookie Books. I was bored out of my head during the convention part as it seemed it was the same scenario just different day. The whole Quinn thing is weird and awkward. I hope the next book refreshes my interest in this series as this book put the brakes on my attention span.

In this latest installment of the Southern Vampire series, Sookie Stackhouse, our favorite telepathic waitress, finds herself drawn once again into the world of the Louisiana undead. This time she has a new love interest, the shape-changing weretiger Quinn, but just as they're getting to know each other better Sookie's talents are requested by the vampire Queen of Louisiana at a national vampire summit several states away. Sookie fans will know that this event won't go off without a hitch.

Although the story was predictable at times, Sookie is as plucky as ever. I'll admit I'm not a big fan of Quinn -- I'm still holding out for Eric!

Not to confuse the reader, but this is the audiobook version, which I NEVER listen to first (unless the book is out of print).

True Blood on HBO certainly added a jolt to Charlaine Harris' books. Whether she's thrilled or not I do not know. Lots of changes got made to make the series work out, and way too much got left out or added in for the author to feel it's really still her work, but it can't hurt the wallet or the ego too much for HBO to be taking a Southern Vampire series more seriously than Anne Rice's work ever was. That has to be a kick right there, I guess. Not to put the queen of Louisiana vampirism down a bit, since she started the whole thing so long ago, but this is good stuff too.

It was good ... better than its direct predecessor ... but I think that Charlaine Harris is losing
steam with this series as she shifts her focus to her other series and characters.

If you're a Sookie Stackhouse fan, it's worth a read. But this time around, I didn't gamble and buy
it in hardcover -- I waited patiently for it to come in at the library.

It's clear that the world events and tragedies of the last few years -- 9/11, the effects of
Hurricane Katrina -- have deeply affected Ms. Harris. Hurricane Katrina and its impact on New
Orleans is one of the foundations of the story.

Overall, if you're into the series, then you're going to want to read this book. But if you're
just curious about it, start with Dead Until Dark. See how it goes.

I absolutely adore the Sookie books. Unfortunately having to wait for each book to come out makes it hard to really hold on to the feelings you get when you finish the previous books. I was able to read the first four back-to-back and then had to start waiting for the new ones. I still love Sookie, but her world is expanding and it's making me a little crazy. There are just too many characters, and she seems to get hurt worse and worse with each book. I love the character of Quinn, and there was such potential in their relationship early on in the book, but when Sookie started to confront her feelings for Eric...well, it was all a mess.

And what was with the blood-exchange with Eric again? The whole scene was icky and unnecessary and just...awkward. I'll still probably read every Sookie book that is written, but it would be nice if we could just get back to Bon Temps and stayed there for a little while.

Ok - this book is hands down my favorite of the series so far! Great, engaging storyline. All the characters come together perfectly in this one, and it's very cool to see how much Sookie has grown into her own person. I just adore Amelia, and I love seeing Sookie interact with Barry again, which helps her gain a deeper understanding of her "gift." And I also love how Sookie & Eric's relationship has evolved steadily throughout the series, and even though they're taking their sweet time, I'm enjoying the ride!

I really enjoyed this whole series. I blew through all the books over the holidays. In each book, Harris would sometimes veer off with her characters but in a future book they would tie back in. I wish that she would have kept some of the story lines to a minimum and focused more on the main characters but at the same time, I rushed to read the next book to see how they all tied in. Now I have to wait for her to write the next one!

Sookie Stackhouse is about to attend the long anticipated Vampire Summit on the shores of Lake Michigan. Despite the numerous warnings from friends and ominous feelings of danger, Sookie is going. She says she is looking forward to traveling to a new city and experiencing something new, but in truth Sookie is going mostly for the money. That and if a vampire wants you to attend then you'll attend, especially if that vampire is a Queen.

Sophie-Anne Leclerq, Vampire Queen of Louisiana, has 'requested' Sookie attend the summit. Sophie-Anne is finding herself in a dangerous position heading into the summit; she has suffered a massive financial and personal loss in the wake of the hurricane damage to her powerbase in New Orleans. Also the Queen is to stand trial for the murder of her husband, she stands to lose everything, and Sookie is the only witness to her innocence.

Politics is rife at the summit and it's not unusual for those in attendance to fear assassination. Some will go to extreme lengths to protect themselves as Sookie finds out, and a moment's decision will force Sookie into a bad situation that will inevitably strengthen her bond with Eric. However this is not such a good thing considering Sookie is still in the beginnings of a relationship with the new man in her life, the were-tiger Quinn's. But that is not the only thing putting strain on this relationship, as at the summit Sookie also discovers Quinn's violent past.

At the summit Sookie discovers she is not the only telepath present, Barry the Bellboy whom she met in Dallas is there with the Dallas vampires. But the summit, crawling with vampires and their entourages, has also attracted the attentions of those extremist who's only purpose is to eradicate all vampires. The summit is set to end with a BANG! and not everyone is going to make it out alive.

A load of new characters and new supernatural beings are introduced in this politically themed story, and every moment is packed with action. Fast pased and terribly intriguing.
