Somewhat disappointing end. The story concluded, without addressing the political and governing issues which had dominated the series. And which I found to be much more compelling than the conflict and battle with the alien invaders the Vord.

Excellent end of this series. A great series of battles, a great wrap up of several characters, good triumphs over evil. Highly recommend this to any of the fantasy readers out there.

An enthralling conclusion that wraps up a fantastic story and now that I'm finished reading it I'm quite saddened there isn't more to devour. A few loose ends I would've liked to see cleared up differently but overall I'm content with how things wrapped up.

fanstic conclusion to the series. I liked books 2-6, book 1 was too slow.

This book is a fantastic read. My only reservation is that while I understand the ending was what it -needed- to be, it wasn't what I -wanted- it to be. It's still a pretty solid 4.5/5.

This book just continues from where the last one left off, it's a rollicking good read and very hard to put down.

After thoroughly enjoying this series, I can say that my only disappointment in it lay in the fact that it ended exactly as I thought it would, which is the reason I don't read much Swords & Horses Fantasy anymore. Was the ending satisfying? Yes, but eminently predictable. Still, a deeply enjoyable, light read. If you liked the rest, go ahead, and if you like fantasy but haven't read the rest, well, the series is complete, so Enjoy!

I enjoyed this, the last chapter in the Codex Alera series, even if the ending seemed a bit rushed. It's been an interesting ride as young Tavi has grown from a shepherds apprentice into the First Lord of Alera. I'd agree with a previous reviewer that there are certainly enough open items in the storyline to allow for a spin-off at some point in the future. Overall, an excellent and highly recommended series!

A good ending to the series! I liked how everything comes full circle, with explanation of details from book1. Satisfying! Now I must re-read them all!

Jim Butcher never goes wrong in his Codex Alera series. I wish there were more, or maybe a prequel...

In some ways, i think this was the weakest of the books, but it still rates very high. The end was a little disappointing, but it had to be done I think.

I agree with other reviewers that I almost expected more from the ending of this fantastic series. But all the same it was a decent round up. I just dislike the 'jump a little while into the future and summarise in one page what's happened and what's likely to happen' end pages. I can see the likelihood of some follow up stories in this world, which I can't wait for. I recommend anything Jim Butcher's written to any fantasy fans.
