Almost identical to the series season 1. The writing is simple, which means it goes fast. Fun for a True Blood or vampire fan!

I am not a big paranormal reader but this series has such a following I had to try it. The story was just okay. There were humorous moments though. I will probably read more of the series to see where it goes but I won't rush out to buy them.

could not finish this knowing I had other books of better caliber waiting. maybe I'll come back to this later but I was just bored with it. OK, wound up finishing it....not that bad...if you accept the comic booky ness of it.

To be honest, I only read this because of the show True Blood. The writing style gave me headaches. Being in Sookie's mind made me cringe with each chapter. I've read novels meant for teenage boys with better quality of writing than this. I think I'll stick to the show. If I run out of better authors to read( currently have 8 books stacked by my bed), I'll consider book 2.

Not gonna rate it, b/c it's hard for me to separate the book from the tv show. Saw the show first and was intrigued; I still like the characters but the book didn't present anything new to me. Quick read, but I think I'm over the vampire stuff.

I actually like the series better than the book. No Tara, hardly any Lafayette; just one main storyline that was over far too quickly. We'll see how the rest of the series goes...

The books are good on their own and probably would keep me reading the series. However as I am reading these after the show: I find I prefer the extra added elements and changes they've made to flesh the books out into a season long television program.

Pretty good, probably better because of the show. Felt like some areas weren't addressed enough, like her grandmother's death

My first exposure was to the HBO series "True Blood" as I am not really into the vampire craze. But since I love the series, I was curious. I rather enjoyed it!! The series was pretty close to the novel. Nice, can't wait to read the next ones now!!

This was first Sookie novel and recommended by a friend. What a great read! I love to discover new series. This one was very dark and dangerous and all things vampire. Can't wait to read the others.

I wasn't sure if I could get into this book at first knowing I don't really like mystery books but I found my self getting wrapped up in it. An excellent read.

I think that this book came along at the time that I didn't want to read anything too heavy. It was actually light and fun to read. I know, it hard to throw a stake in any direction without hitting SOMETHING vampire, right?! But I like this one. I am now on the second one, and I could probably see myself reading the whole series. Uh, all soon to be 10!! But it'll take me awhile. I mean, it wasn't making me read it nonstop. So, I won't be reading them all in a row!! I'll be taking break for sure. But, I digress. A fun read! Now, I'm looking forward to seeing the show. "Soooookie" and watching Bill the Vampire in person!!
