Frankly abhor Sheldon books. If I wanted to read gratuitous sex, would read an erotic novel. Was a bit apprehensive when I started with this book. 50 pages into it and I couldn't keep my hands of it. Amazing story line, very realistic characters and a plenty of adrenalin to keep the excitement pushing. And then like all his other books, the wanton sex starts. Have no clue why he's obsessed with aggressive female leads...beyond Kate Blackwell, the story simply spirals into a dreadful drone.....

the first novel i've ever read... i couldn't put it down... i've enjoyed it sooo much... it made me squirm, thrilled, excited.. and i started reading novels from then on....

found the book too long , ordinary and predictable.! certainly no sidney sheldon stamp on it. The only episodes absorbing in the story were margeret's story in buk 1 and eve blackwell's escapades. Just LOVED eve blackwell.. rest everything was humdrum

i read this book in just 3 days time and i read it twice... i am simply in love with this novel. There are lots of tag lines in the book but i like "if you want to the game then you must be the master of it" at very end when granie celebrating her last birthday. Strongly recommended to those who read a worth stuff

My first sydney sheldon book and must say that it will propel me to read many more. really loved it. the plot, the intricacies and the sheer magnitude of the whole scenario is quite amazing. initially looked a bit far fetched but then once you get the feel of the book and the characters, you tend to like the whole thing and it becomes much more believable and more importantly, lovable. You will love the hate of the characters and hate that the book ends...

I am in a dilemma about how to right a review on this one. Of course this is not his best book. But it can be included among those novels were u cant close the book once you start read some pages. This one has got the best final words i ever read in any book which underlines the character of the lady kate BlackWell. Lot of distint characters, lot of evilness, goodness, anger, threat, cheating, murder everything in it. If you are a sydney sheldon fan, then this one is for you. Well but i agree on some facts that he is using lot of cliched things which he uses regularly in his novels. In those parts the story gets awful for me, but still it has got a breathtaking pace, and you cant ever once predict the story and thats the best part of it. After all the story is about us the human being. What we can offer? How a behaviour of one can affect others. Enjoy the read

This is not a review. Sandra lent me this book and I couldn't put it down! It reminded me of other Sheldon's books I'd read when I was in school. My favourite, if you can call it that since I'd read only 4 at the most, is Nothing Lasts Forever. Sheldon's a master storyteller; my only complaint is the sex bits - they're a bit disturbing. This, inevitably led me to reading Mary Higgins Clark's Pretend You Don't See Her, another favourite.

I read this book for the first time when i was 16 and second time after ~20 years. Enjoyed it immensely both times. :)

Sidney Sheldon he is one among the respectable authors for me as all his work never shows any shade of resemblance with each other.All his stories are unique and perspicacious.All his characters are strong.In "Master of the game" There are two protagonists "Jamie McGuire" for the first half and "Kate Blackwell" in the rest although she is a gray shaded character.Love the way the story begins and the flow of the story.A must read for Sidney Sheldon Lovers!!

I havnt read much of Sidney Sheldon, but this must be one of his best. He has got great control over story, characters, pace.. This novel has got all colors of characters you get to see in real world, good bad everything in various shades. Its a gripping novel, got twists and turns. Probably my first novel where i hated the main character (Kate - too mean and selfish), but liked the novel! well its a fiction, Enjoy reading.

This was the first Sidney Sheldon book that I read and it turned out to be a riveting read (it's what got me hooked to Sidney Sheldon novels, actually). This is a story about ambition, lust, greed, and revenge that spans four generations of the McGregor family. It all started with Jamie McGregor who overcame many hardships, became a millionaire, and started the Kruger-Brent company. Then came his daughter, Kate (the so-called Master of the Game) who spent most of her life buying and manipulating everyone in her path in her relentless search for a worthy corporate successor... This book has it all - action, suspense, romance, betrayal, and memorable characters that you're sure to enjoy.
