Just read this book on honeymoon after finding it by chance in a book exchange.
It's a really good read.. The story is set in a globalized-corporate-unified future and follows a group of "people who don't feel like they fit in" who find out about an opportunity to have the ultimate get away from it all experience by being dropped in Australia (which has been wiped out by a plague and is now safe again) and having to find their way back to civilization unaided). As you follow the characters on their journey, a lot of unexpected twists and turns cause the reader to ponder some interesting questions about human nature, society and the way things are going with capitalism & globalization. The concept is sci-fi but the book is very human. It reminds me of Lost, or Lord of the Flies, with a bit of 1984 thrown in. Well worth reading.

Very thought provoking - took about 100 pages to become absorbed in it, but then couldn't put it down. Thoroughly recommend.

Pretty good book, set in a future society, where everything is regulated. Story tells about some people who choose to go to Australia, that has been quarantined due to some terrible disease.

Characters were interesting, and the plot was ok, although the author could have went into a little more depth on the current society and the effects it had on people.

The action was good at times, but there were only a couple real good encounters. The rest were just so-so. Seems like the author drug out the boring stuff, and blew through the excitement.

It was worth reading, but I doubt I'll read it again.
